Avon and Somerset

Does anyone know a rough time scale for FAC variation with Avon and Somerset currently?

I am only really looking for answers within Avon and Somerset as I know some are ridiculous and other areas won’t be relevant.

I had a 1-1 returned in 3 weeks previously but I haven’t applied for another caliber in quite some time .

Mine was done in just about 6 weeks, but in fairness Xmas and the New Year hols were in the middle of that. When I initially inquired I was told 6-8 weeks unless it was a 1-4-1 which would be approx 2 weeks.

Why don’t you ring up the FLD and ask them? They will tell you an accurate timescale.

Last time a friend from a target club asked about variations they were told a couple of months, then it was over six when he followed through with it very shortly afterwards. Another chap at the same club was waiting almost a year.

Likely more accurate asking here given the disparity between the typical estimate given and the reality

If the FLD are giving inaccurate information then there are grounds for complaint. It should also be remembered that if during the checks the Police find something they may want to look into further, that will delay things. Each case and application is different!

My mate is just going through renewal of a coterminous certs. Time wise seems to be pretty standard and our FEO is very sensible.

Just got mine back, well a month back
Tried phoning the offices numerous times left messages
no one answering the phones for weeks at a time
Or replying to emails fao not answering calls absolutely ridiculous
Believe it or not I rang the police station at one point to see what was going on,
and informed me that no one is taking calls as they’re low on staff at the minute
Absolutely ridiculous,
Fortunately, a friend of a friend got hold of an fac officer
& got it sorted

My mate got 3 in a day at the show on Friday. They were at the show on previous years as well. Might be worth keeping in mind.
I chatted to 2 of them on the Sunday, they said they had been busy on Friday , less so on Saturday, and too early to comment on the Sunday.

One of the local-ish shops here, with a 100m range on the same site, has had days/events where the police have been there doing variations also, so that could be an option for the future also.

That sounds like Riflemans, I’d heard something along those lines last year

Yes indeed, nice little shop isn't it, usually see something interesting and they seem to round up some nice used stuff with a handful of rounds through them.

The police doing variations there makes a lot of sense for both parties as well as us lot, good call whoever got that sorted out.
