Badger cull

Idealy you need to know a farmer who is in the cull and is willing to put you in touch with cull Co ordinator. It would help considerably if you shoot on their/nearby ground.
Cull contractors have to attend a training course and pass a shooting test. No other qualification is required other than having a FAC.
Full details are on the relevant government Web site.
If you are choosen and subsequently trained then you will only be allowed out with a partner.
You could also be involved in the trapping part of the cull for which you will.need a 12 bore shot gun so a SGC is required.
As previously posted your unlikely to be in the first few years of a cull so the opportunity to train and become a contractor may be severely limited.
Also the Labour Party is committed to abolishing the badger cull.

Thanks for the feedback!

No such thing needed as a dsc2. 70yrd shooting test at night, 6 shots in a 3inch circle off sticks. Ideally youll need to get in on year 1 cull as the shooting test won't necessarily be run on year 2 as it needs enough demand and the right setup and the right assessors. Let's hope the next government have more pressing matters to deal with before they think about pulling the plug on new or existing licences.

Gentleman be very careful this is a public forum.

When somebody who posts less than 10 posts a year for the last 14 years of joining starts asking these questions I would be very careful of any information you give out.

Just saying.

Ideally a single barrel shotgun, easier to poke into the cage.

Good but my comment still stands and many waded in with info before that was verified.
We are good sometimes of shooting our selves in the foot and this thread can be google searched by anyone.
Stupid to talk about it openly.IMHO

There are lots inside one of my free range egg units. Often see several scuttling around whilst I wait for Charlie.
Now the nettles are topped much easier to see.
Not many outside the enclosure.

Badger cull saw a resurgence in demand for single barrel 12 bores.
Also if tight choke as per Baikal brilliant grey squirrel drey busters.
Baikal come with sling swivel attachments which is a god send.

That must be the perfect environment for a Hedge Pig, an almost constant supply of nutritious eggs, and a safety fence to keep the badgers away... heaven for the little rascals.

One half of the ground I shoot over holds badgers, the other does not.
One half of the ground I shoot over holds hedgehogs, the other does not.
Any Sherlock's out there that could possibly help me work something out....
