Got a little single barrel .410 for my son to use.

After I put a few cartridges through it I looked at the primers and I think the firing pin is protruding too much.

So three questions really -

Where can I get a new firing pin from?

Is it the firing pin return spring that’s at fault?

How the bloody hell do I get it out? My best guess at the moment is that I have to knock the top most pin out

Any help gratefully recieved

Terry

Seems to be common on Baikals - my Baikal combo has the same on the 12 gauge chamber. It's only a tiny little dimple so I never worried too much about it, I suppose it depends on how much your example here is touching the primer that will determine how worried you should be ;)

As for getting the pin out, I think you're right about punching out those pins on the side of the action but can't comment on which one

Primers aren’t perforated all the way through.

Only example I’ve got to hand is below but it certainly doesn’t look as deep (from memory) as some of the other cartridges.

Replacing the firing pin spring was a recommendation from an instructor that was teaching my son with a club gun.

Seemed to think that the spring may have weakened due to repeated dry firing 🤷‍♂️

Stating to think I may be being a bit dramatic, I’ll put a couple through it tomorrow and keeps the empties

Nothing wrong with it buddy 👍

Great stuff.

Must just be a quirk of Baikals.

Thanks to both of you for your time and replies 👍
Using mine today and it gives a good wack on the cap. Also bear in mind 410 is high pressure cartridge so the cap will flow around the pin a touch.

Hello, Use to be quite common with the cheaper type of single barrel 410, We just filed a bit off the pin taking care not to damage the breech face, When i got my first shotgun licence you could buy a nice single 410 for a fiver, My nice Double 410 was £6
