Ballistics App

I was a die hard IStrelock fan but now evidently it’s gone from the App Store.

What are folks using and why? Preferably with reticle specific ballistics (p4fl Schmidt). Cheap or free would be best 🤣, happy to pay a little if it’s worth it.

Many thanks

JH

I think some guys have managed to find strelok to download, are you a member of the FB strelok group? May be worth a look.

I still use strelok myself...Igor still supports it

Failing that Weta Precision or Geoballistics would be worth a look but neither have a ret image function like strelok I don't think

Vortex have what looks like a pretty decent app. It pairs well with their Fury AB RF binos but also works as a stand alone.

Still use Strelok pro, open it every week set my phone not to off load unused apps, it will be fine until I upgrade

Yep I’ve stupidly let that lapse.

It was inevitable anyway, gotta change an iPhone after a few years before the battery goes kaput.

I use the Hornady App - and it gives you the basics for free.

It does allow other than hornady bullets - but you do need the BC and grain weight.

I like the look of weta

Thanks

I found it very user friendly once you got hold of the basics, scroll control over typing so when wearing gloves can be a god send
I screen shot the ballistics from IStrelock when it was on the way out and weta marries up exactly-which it should but it’s always reassuring. Would be nice to have the reticle option but it’s not the end of the world.

I will explore the others too, thanks.

I used to use quick target ( still have it but dont use it ) was pretty good on windages though . I have found all dope needs proving so i just set up on max point blank and then shoot it in different conditions ( Obviously i am privileged to have the facility to do that at home ) Able to pick the best days to set up . and different winds .
Small vermin rifle is a bit different if your looking at 1"-2 "

Not relevant to the OP, but Bushnell actually has a Ballistics app with Applied Ballistics (of Brian Litz fame) built in. All their reticles are included as well, going back to the old 3200 series.

Free as well... almsot like Bushnell scopes are a good deal or something... :norty: :thumb:

Yet another compelling reason to burn my Schmidt and come to the dark side and get a bushnell. One day my friend.

Geoballistics has a wonderful map/ranging option where you plot your position and the position of your target...a type of range card reference...and it will give you the firing solution.

A bit fiddly if your trying a quick shot on a fox but you can lay out multiple points and then tap on one to instantly get a range dope. Nice touch! I have all my permissions logged with range cards of varying points of interest for my quick reference but then I'm a sufferer of gucci kit syndrome 😎 🤣
