I just think banning things seems to be the default British response to pretty much any situation, and has been for centuries. It's not new.

I don’t think the particular government in power at the time makes any difference. It just seems to be something in the British mentality.
I've even seen posts on here, by people who expect to be allowed to detonate gunpowder and make loud bangs, calling for a ban on fireworks! You really couldn't make it up!

Simple solution is to close down the Royal Kennel Club breed standards that would get rid of 99% of the problems, the other 1% is bull breeds... working dogs are usually fine.

I'm not so sure about that with working breeds.
I bet in the past 30yrs the change in FT bred dogs is massive in a relatively short space of time.
Granted not health issues but not all the changes are positive.
Generally the old timers knew wot they were doing and their is a reason why breed types have stayed the same for hundreds of years

I bet most heavily FT bred dogs would struggle meet the KC breed stanards.
Labs to skinny, poor heads, whippet tails rubbish single coats.

And both spaniel breeds are smaller than they ever have been.
Almost too small to be fit for purpose.
Just so they look quicker and flashier.

Yep, and my Cockers work fine three days a week in the beating line, sweep at the end of some drives if needed. Good, strong, hard working dogs, two are at my feet now, waiting for bedtime.
