The price is good, although the Berwick has been discontinued and replaced by the £270 Bransdale now so this is older stock. The original Wax jacket Bedale / Beaufort for example will undoubtedly be more durable if your beating / pickup duties are of a rougher nature! I work for a group who sell Barbour so have access to the full catalogue at cost so have tried a few over the years, although not breathable the original classic fit wax coats last for years and if maintained properly are as waterproof as anything else out there, the lighter outer on the Berwick may cause problems with thorns and barbed wire and in my experience their drop liners stay properly waterproof for about 12mths or two washes depending on which comes the soonest! For my money the heavy wax is better suited to country living and the lighter waterproof items are better suited to Kensington high Street....don't get me wrong, it's not a bad jacket but there are plenty of other not bad jackets out there at that price.

I've never had one but I have a Barbour Linhope Lightweight, it's 11 years old and still waterproof, I wish I had put it on today instead of a Paramo!!!!!

A few of the guns have Berwick jackets on my shoot. They are pretty tough, and seem to withstand heavy cover well. They seem as waterproof as anything else and more robust than most. As Flash says they don’t seem to like the washing machine much, but then that’s most synthetic jackets to be fair. I clean my old Musto off stood in it in the shower rather than machine wash it, and it still doesn’t leak after 10 years of use. Gets raised eyebrows from the wife who’s convinced it’s all very niche.

Have a look on eBay as well. I’ve got some good deals on them. Got a Berwick for £40 but didn’t suit me.

Got a Highland jacket for £40 and love it as well as a Barbour Linhope for £80 and that’s a belting jacket.
