BASC Council Elections.

I had to trek a bit in the Kalahari once. Can't say I liked it all much.

What specifically do you plan to do differently Dave?

I've no opinion of John Swift but met with him and understand he played a part in setting up DMQ which I'd accept as being a help to deer conservation?
Also, the dismissal of the last CEO appears to have been a pretty rigorously followed so let me know how you'd do things differently?

Cheers

Well my opinion of Swift was formed after a few meetings, his behaviour over the Lead Ammunition Group and his lead over the Hunting ban. He didn't seem to understand that the hunting ban was just a way of "salami slicing" field sports to death.

I accept that there are always problems with working in committees but I would like to see some method of ensuring that we choose our chief executive in a better fashion to ensure better outcomes in future.

Thanks for the good wishes.

David.

PS. Trekking in the Kalahari is wonderful. Well in my opinion anyway.

Thanks for getting back
Don't know if John Swift is on here to reply
Didn't notice any specific measures you'd propose

Yes, places can mean different things to different folks
Suppose it depends on how much you were carrying, how far you had to go and the time available

Good luck with your endeavours at BASC

"Suppose it depends on how much you were carrying, how far you had to go and the time available"

Brought up to it and too thick to know better!

David.

Well polling closes at the end of the first week of June. If you haven't voted please do so. Of course I would like your vote if you live in Wales but I think we should all vote. If there is a big turnout it sends the message to BASC that we, the members, are interested in how the organisation is run and we are quite willing to vote in new members if we don't like the way things are going!

I don't have a lot of time for the argument that they are all the same so voting is a waste of time, even if you don't have a lot of time for any of the candidates surely it is in your and BASC's interest for you to vote for the best/least bad of the bunch.

So please have a look at who you can vote for and get online and vote.

Many thanks,

David.

Good luck Kalahari.

I usually reserve the right to be rude about Kalahari but he's very genuine and I do believe he'd serve us well on the council.

Best wishes,

Scrummy

Come on you north Walian members vote for David.A straight, approachable and committed countryman whom I think will represent us well and may even sort some of the issues that persist at Marford Mill.Richard.

Hello again,

Well it is just a week until voting closes. Please get out and vote for the candidate you think best. Everybody has a right to vote for one of the national seats and people in Wales get a vote in the national seat and the Welsh seat.

Of course I would like you to vote for me but I would honestly prefer you to vote for the other guy than not at all. After the problems BASC has gone through we must show that we are interested and watching what is happening at Marford Mill and voting is one way of doing this..

David.

Good advice.

I suggest for this principle to apply properly what is needed is a person intent and running on a rather critical approach to what is/has becoming a shooting embarrassment. BASC needs a radical overhaul and a 'more of the same' will damage BASC and rather less, shooting. We dont get where we currently are without years of poor control, factional in-fighting and casual regard for the true role of BASC.
There are really hard working people at BASC who strive to improve the image of the organisation against the background of a 'laissez - faire' few senior and other people.
I sincerely hope Kalahari can help change direction which is why he has had my vote.

As some of you might have heard I wasn't successful in the BASC elections to council. Can I just take this opportunity to thank the people who voted for me. I am sorry to have not done better, my first feeling on getting the result was that I had let you down. Still as Teresa May now knows that's democracy in action. :D

Best wishes,

David.

Sorry to hear that David - we did our best!
At least we do now have a council member with a strong interest in stalking, not just blatting away at expensive tame pheasants.

For peoples information,
Paul Shaw was elected to the National seat and Peter Watson to the Wales seat.

David.
