BASC Game Fair

That was my experience. The orgs and the names were just there to see each other - not the membership. The atmosphere wasn't welcoming, the staff looked either bored or ****ed off, and any questions that pertained to either shooting or conservation in Britain were treated as an annoyance.
I agree that BASC seem to have an engagement problem they don't know how to fix.
It doesn't help that most of their members are angry at them (a) for capitulating to the lead lie and (b) for their inability to find landmark cases to bring wayward licensing into the light and into line.
This aside, they don't go out of their way to attract people to their training and activities, or to challenge the antis who claim to be conservationists with the solid evidence that shooting puts more genuine cash and more working hours, and literally more boots on the ground, for conservation that actually conserves landscapes, habitats and biodiversity, than any other sector.
No wonder they mostly just stand there talking to each other.

Family of 6 of us back home in N Wales after our anual game fair holiday.
We enjoy it for what it is,and have been going close to 20 years.

The basc membership, although I'm not a, member gives a great deal on entry.
Plenty of good informative demos, gundogs, birds of pray, hounds were fantastic with some really good cooking demos in the BASC tent.
I didn't see very many ammunition for sale, as well as virtually no reloading.
Plenty of guns and equipment on show, quite a lot of useless tat as well.

Sadly mid day Saturday a large crowd of pikeys decended onto the gunmakers pub.
Ended up with aroud 20 or so, with one in a mobility scooter darting around with a cooked pigs head in the front basket, lovely bunch of people.

I hope it doesn't go the same way as the Midland.

Maybe I went to a different BASC stand?! I had two conversations about the United Utilities debacle with BASC reps, and my seven year old asked a few questions and got given a nice BASC Camo cap and other freebies. But I will say the stand was not busy and there were a lot of BASC reps, so some were indeed talking to each other, but that’s not a crime is it?
