BASC’s new social media guide is designed to help you share your passion online in a way that promotes understanding, respect and highlights the benefits shooting delivers.

With social media playing an ever-increasing role in shaping public perceptions, BASC has launched a new social media guide to equip members and the wider sector with the tools to protect the reputation of shooting.

The guide encourages you to engage positively with audiences, promote the sport’s vital role in conservation and sustainability, and show people what rural life is all about.

Pretty decent actually, but you’ve neglected to add a section telling shooters that sometimes they just need to explain that shooting is normal, owning guns is normal, killing animals is normal and that some folk just need to shut up and accept it.

I feel we “ hide” too much. Christ some even take precautions when going to their own vehicle parked on their own property for fear of folk seeing a gun, or a shooter.

I will say again though, that guide is good.

Concurr with rake-aboot, a good guide and SM does shap public perception so we need to use it thoughtfully.

On a personal level I shall be writing to my MP deconstructing the lead ban proposals and those relating to the move of shotguns to S1, with direct reference to local impacts. Its a bit time consuming but MPs will ignore standardised communications like organisations turn out, the personal stuff holds their attention far better. That said if you've got a genuine concern of your own that I might help with please message me , I'll help if I can.
