BASC's stringent quality control requirements for providers???

So just to be very clear Paul, we can agree that if someone who is delivering DSC training, who applies to be evaluated by BASC, and that trainer passes the evaluation to our satisfaction and is awarded by BASC the status of a BASC accredited trainer, knowing that they will be re-evaluated once a year, and that if there is evidence of poor practice at any point their BASC accreditation can and will be removed...can deliver training to a perfectly good standard, and consequently anyone applying to that trainer can be confident that they will be properly trained.

That is not to say that someone who is not a BASC accredited trainer is not competent of course, and that proper training is of course available from all sorts of sources...

But obviously some trainers may well see a potential for a competitive edge in a competitive market if they fly the BASC flag...

It boils down to the fact you don't like the Jelen advert...is that not the crux of the matter?

A question for BASC Davidd

you say the "that if there is evidence of poor practice at any point their BASC accreditation can and will be removed."

has this ever happened and did you do as threatened

I thought the point of a Private Message was that it was just that; Private...

Whether we agree or not with any of what's being slung around on this thread, I think that was unnecessary.

Enough

David, I think you need to consider the term 'accredited' in terms of educational provision

what you're suggesting is 'approved' which is fine. Now for these stringent standards as claimed by your provider representing you.

Brilliant. You do have to wonder about the guy; didn't he do similar to several people on a previous topic?

Really ? I didn't send one to him he decided to try and have a pop through pm but it's backfired hasn't it

I can stand by everything I've said, Jimbo is clearly only contributing as he has said to get in a personal attack and was driving a thread off topic as are others.

Not so sure that it has myself, but that's just my opinion... I thought you'd taken #114 the wrong way, which was when it started going downhill and personal.

Just thought I'd post up a little snap of a pm I've just recieved from Paul I'm not really into name calling so I'll let it speak for itself :)

ps paul you really are doing wonders for your profile this week well done ( it is you I'm knocking not the training )
Got to say jimbo all it will end up doing is getting the thread shut down ,you do seem to have it in for dsc1 /2 and I not sure why ,and I don't think that level one makes you more qualified than out in the field experience ,if fact some of the worst stalkers and just bad practices are use by dsc level one holders and as for level two well that shows that you put your money were your mouth was ,the shooting test that you are required to do just means you were safe for the short time you were being assessed nothing more you could go out and shoot of a style or of a footpath lol ,it experience that counts paper ,but if you want to shoot or have the lease on a wood then you will need those bits of paper in most cases

Not wishing to take this off track ( but it needs ) but how many stalkers on here, only have permissions because they have DSC, I would think only FC or other forestry company's , if someone wants to set a pole up we would find out, and I don,t mean those who have it and go stalking , but how many were asked before they mentioned it.

The majority of my stalking is through a DMG. I would not be a member without DSC1

Gentlemen this thread has amazed me. How much chest blowing and postulating about who is the best provider is absurd.

Let me add, NO MATTER who you take your Level one with, whether it is BDS, BASC, Barony who ever there has to be an APPROVED ASSESSOR to run it, and all are run the same way to the same standards.

NO ONE IS BETTER THAN THE OTHER. They are all there to provide the knowledge, time and expertise to help candidates to hopefully achieve their Level 1. I notice that many who also run very good courses and give a lot of time to this site have not made any mention about this thread.

Furthermore ANY assessor can run a separate course, much the same as I have done with someone as Assessor and me as an AW on my lease with all the facilities to hand and over the past two Level one courses everyone passed as well. Does that make me or the Assessor THE PEOPLE TO BOOK WITH.

Certainly NOT. It is entirely up to the candidate.

This thread is now closed.
