Enjoy the whole experience - I thoroughly enjoyed the course last year up in Thetford. As others have said, it's far more focused on management rather than stalking, and all the more enjoyable because of it.

Willie,

you are right it is a very enjoyable experience, I found it a very intence course with a lot to take in, it is not an attendence course by any means and with a cost of £450 not cheap either, pass or fail i have learnt a great deal and will put it to good use on the areas i am managing at the moment, as said before the shooting test is good fun but some did fail and where able to retake it later on in the week.
one of our tutors told us that the old advanced stalkers cert is not worth the paper it is printed on now, I find that hard to beleave because there are not really any comparisons with the two courses.

if you have a interest in deer and wont to futher your knowledge then i would recommend it to anyone.

Tony, that sounds like Chris spouting off.

I'm thinking of looking at this, part funding it myself and part asking my boss to help out. I help to run a deer park with public access, so what can I use to sell it to the boss?

Matt

There is a whole lot in the syllabus that I think would help - management plans, risk assessment, park deer, etc. If you PM me your email address I can send you a copy of the contents pages for the course if that would help?

As i said in an earlier post if you wont to gain more knowledge on the management side of deer i think this coures is a must.

Many congratulations indeed. It's an enjoyable course and very well taught, but speaking from experience it's still a great relief when you get the notification that you've passed. You should rightly be delighted!

BTW, did you read the article on the same Deer Management course last year in Thetford that was written up in a recent issue of Sporting Rifle? It was written by Simon Barr, who also attended the course. By coincidence, on a recent visit to Germany I bought a copy of Halali magazine (http://www.halali-magazin.com/de/archiv.html) at the train station in Ludwigshafen and it had an article on hunting in Great Britain written by....Simon Barr. Small world!
