Question for my fellow follically challenged brothers - how do you keep wooly hats on your head?? I find they gradually just creep up & up my head, so either constantly pulling it down or it just rests on top of my head like a pointy little island!! Any grips or anything? Or can someone suggest a different style that covers head & ears??

How did you get your questions answered before SD... :doh:
 
Don’t wear a beanie, wear a proper fleece hat, big enough to go over everything and not pop off due to tension.
I think beanies stupid. Actually, so do the fleece hats, but they at least stay on. lol.

Beanie. Stupid hat that is always under tension as soon as you put it on your head and rockets off into the sky when it slides off your head.

Not that I am biased or anything.
 
They are costly but good. The classic knit hat by Fjallraven is decent. It is merino wool which is a good start and it is dual layered so properly warm. Importantly, for me, it has a combination of enough stretch AND grip to actually stay put whilst you can also pull it down so the back of your neck is covered as well as your ears.

I have hair, too much to be honest. Sounds like I got your share, so cannot comment on the effectiveness of this hat for the less hirsute but I have just replaced my ancient beanie with the same one due to how good they are.

I have a Musto beanie which is super tight and stays put but it is so tight that is quite uncomfortable. I cannot recommend that. I think the ability to stretch and grip whilst have choice on length is good. The classic knit hat does those things.

Getting a hat that is big enough is often the remedy to such woes. Too small and there's no purchase at or below the 'equator' of one's head and the damn thing will slide up and off. My head is very large (61-62 cm) and few hatters make em big enough, it is a real pain.
