Hi all any ideas how to remedy a lifter that keeps sticking on a Benelli M2 ive had the trigger out and cleaned it and oiled as per the instructions but it doesn't seem to want to lift every shell.
Many thanks in advance

Might be worth just replacing it with a better/longer aftermarket competition lifter.

It's been a while since I've taken my M-2 apart, but I don't recall there being a whole lot to it.

Have you by chance recently changed the magazine spring? One that is too strong can cause the lifter issues. The spring behind the latch can also cause problems if it has become worn, or is installed incorrectly.

Does it happen when the magazine is full, or near empty?

Kind of hard to troubleshoot on the internet.

tends to be when nearly empty
Hmmm...sounds like the latch is too tight then. Again, it's been awhile since I've really messed with my M-2 or M3000 (Stoeger M-2 clone). There's a spring the allows the latch to release the shell from the magazine while also actuating the lifter (IIRC).

I'd have to wait until I get home tonight to verify my memory with the shotgun in hand. I know I replaced the lifters on both of mine (they were set up to also be used for tactical shotgun competitions), and it was pretty straightforward. I do seem to recall though, that the spring that pushes the latch out (towards the magazine opening, and keeps the shells form all spitting out of the mag), was something you had to pay attention to when reassembling. Let me see if I can find a schematic online to jog my memory...

Okay, my memory must be sh#t these days.

Here is a video that explains the replacement process. It might help you diagnose your problem.

Ive just ordered a 9+1 spring off magload, When i put it back to 3+1 with the standard spring it cycled flawlessly. should be here tomorrow.

Cool. I'd encourage you to get the competition lifter when you can. Really helps keep you from getting your thumb caught in the lifter and/or tearing up the cuticle on your thumb (especially if you're quad loading the gun).

Hi Alex thanks so much for the offer , I think I'm gonna order a Taran tactical one , thats if i can find one for sale in the uk. but again so many thanks for the offer
That's ok, I had it spare because I bought a C-Rums lifter back in the day! :thumb:

I did a load port shaping on it when i got it last week ,,,,, it was a arse trembler doing that ,,,, you can only get it wrong once...lol Has made it a lot more comfortable to load

LOL! Yeah, that was what prompted me to get a M3000 (Stoeger M-2 Clone). I figured if I screwed up scalloping the loading port, I'd only be out $600, versus $1400 for a new Benelli. Still, it was a serious butt pucker factor 9, getting close to the magazine tube threads, even on the Stoeger.

BTW, good on you! A lot of folks are too intimidated to do that themselves. Did you also grind the V slot on the forward part of the trigger guard? That really helps guide the shells down into the scalloped loading port.
