Beretta acquires Holland & Holland

Rigby opened up with their modern day offerings for the moderately well off stalker, perhaps Beretta will compete with a bolt stalker for the masses, they bloody should imo as there will be more sold than the current super priced offerings.

My claim to fame (ha!) is that I have a Winchester in .300 H+H that has a genuine H+H sling fitted.....close but still too far away.

So much depends on how it is run.

Hopefully they will let the staff run it and just provide the financial support and take a profit.

If it becomes a brand, with merged products, wait for the H&H silver pigeon etc.

I'd be very surprised if they were to undermine the very brand on which they have just spent a fortune by moving it downmarket with cheaper offerings. They have volume sales elsewhere in their portfolio; this is surely just a trophy-acquisition? Good news, I reckon.

Got a driven boar day simulation session at the H&H shooting ground booked later in the year, will be interesting to see if Beretta make any changes to setup.

Agreed.

Why would they sully the brand by putting it alongside the common and comparatively budget priced berettas. The point of H&H (and Purdey) is exclusivity, best quality, and service - to downgrade that defeats the point of the brand and would be a long term harm. Let’s face it... that’s part of the reason we will dribble over owning one or more of their shotguns or rifles.

As suggested being owned by another large gun manufacturer is only liable to be a benefit, so long as they don’t start using their other factory’s to make producing them ‘cheaper’ (and crapper!)

Maybe someone at H&H will now answer my queries about the history of my Dominion (1st of a pair). Been 4 months since i sent details.
Good luck. I've been waiting 10 months for s reply to a similar query.

A British icon that has been in foreign ownership since the late 1980s. It was a French company, it is now Italian, but they will still sell best English guns.
I was in the running as the manager of the H&H shop to be opened in Munich back then but the Chanel takeover killed that stone dead. I kept getting invites to H&H do"s for a while then that dried up too.

It's a little bit worrying seeing Beretta acquiring all these well know makers. It's only a relatively short time since they bought up Chapuis. At that time I thought that it may be to gain access to the ROLS rifle that would compete directly against the Blaser.

If they carry on at this rate before too long there will be only two main firearms manufacturers in the world, Beretta and FN. :-|

People forget that Holland's have always sold re-badged guns since WWI. The Holland's "Zeppelin Gun" is a Webley and although not awash with the things you do frequently enough see Webley boxlocks engraved as "H & H".

Boss made only best guns although under the Robertson name they sold re-badged boxlocks but Holland's have produced lower grade sidelocks throughout their history. And yes Purdey also sold Purdey named boxlocks.

It'll be interesting to see where this goes. Will there be a London sold Holland's version of A A Brown's "Brown Beretta" for example? Or the re-emergence of "Shot and Regulated" stalking rifles that Holland's sold in the 1980s? Watch that space I guess.
