I'm gutted the thumbhole doesn't have the integral bedding system or I'd have had that instead of the wilderness TerrainI ended up getting the Thumbhole carbon B14 in 30.06. after huge delays in getting the order, I am none the less really pleased with it. Well worth the money.
My RFD just orders it in when needed. But one of the shows might be your best bet if you want a look at them.Anyone know of any dealers in the SE that carry a stock of Bergara rifles, would be nice to have a real time look & feel of different models.
was that recently? I have heard of historic issue but not so with newer rifles.I brought a brand new bergara .308 and the barrel had chunks missing out of the rifling and a section of chatter marks. I managed to get the rifle so it was shooting acceptable groups but then I suffered terrible rusting problems. I don’t think i would buy another
I really rate them and friend that I hunt with agree you get a good looking capable rifle for the money. I have the thumbhole in 6.5 CM and 30-06 and the B14 sporter in 243 and then the little .22.I think the Bergara Carbon Thumbhole is alot of rifle for you money.
Mine in .308 with home loads (Virtus and Barnes) will consistently print .5" groups at 100.
I'm thinking of getting another in 6.5 PRC when my variation lands!

I have aB14 HMR 24" and apart from being heavy, its feels and shoots well IMHO.
See I honestly can’t agree with the rusting issues. I shoot all year and in rain and all weathers. If it gets wet I towel dry when back and leave to proper dry indoors before I clean and oil and I’ve not had issues with rust between drying and cleaning. I think this process should be done by anyone with any brand of rifle though.5 years ago? Pretty much every bergara I know of has had massive rusting issues internally in the barrel. If you are using them once a month and cleaning and oiling instantly after use they may be ok but I don’t think I would want one for any regular use
I fully clean my rifles every evening as they get used every day. If you sat in a highseat you could see the rust growing throughout the day. Literally if you had 8 hours out culling it would be covered in orange spots by the time you get homeSee I honestly can’t agree with the rusting issues. I shoot all year and in rain and all weathers. Yeah I regularly spend full day out and it honestly has never happened to mine. I’m not disbelieving you mate I just haven’t had the same experience.I fully clean my rifles every evening as they get used every day. What difference does a carbon barrel make then?I took delivery of the B14 thumbhole in 30.06 in September. Off the bat really good grouping on factory ammo. Opted for the carbon barrel. Seriously impressed for the money compared to the new Tikka and Sako.
My B14 Crest is currently back with Edgar Bros being examined for massive rusting problems and won't group better than 4" with anything you care to put in it. Outer barrel and action is fine, but then it's cerakoted.5 years ago? Pretty much every bergara I know of has had massive rusting issues internally in the barrel. The new ones are cerakote.
