Best ballistic app

I last used one called ballistic pro and it wasn’t bad, but that was some time ago

Strelok Pro is very good. But as said you need to verify at range. If adjustment is needed just tweak the BC 'till it coincides with your MPI.

I used to use Shooter, well still do sometimes, but it's not updated anymore. Applied Ballistics seems to be a benchmark product these days. Recently I installed Strelok Pro on my phone and iPad. Really getting to like it. Had my reservations at the time, it being a Russian app, but hopefully a lot of Ukrainians have installed it as well.

Cheers

Been using strelok Pro for years. Has proved good enough for first shot hits on small vermin quarry targets to 400 yds and has got me on target almost every time at 1000 yds.

Whatever app you use it's only as good as the accuracy of the data input, so your MVs have to be confirmed and tested across a range of temps to get the powder sensitivity for each load. Strelok then works out the corrected MVs. You can true BC by bullet drop checks to group centres by shooting at various ranges and entering bullet drop. Initially you use the G7 BC for all boat tail bullets, not the G1. It also corrects for spin drift, wind strength and direction, temperature/pressure/humidity etc or can be linked to a kestrel weather meter to connect for these. It's one of the few, if only app to contain a very comprehensive list of G7 BCs for a large range of manufacturer's bullets in each cal as well as containing a full reticle database.

I cannot say whether it's any better or worse than the latest crop of apps but it works and I'm familiar with it now. Lapua Ballistics app is also another good one to try, is free and easy to use plus uses a full 6DOF model, and Hornady do their own 4DOF free app which is meant to be good.

The other one I have used is the Chairgun Elite app which is very good and has the advantage of containing trajectory graphs for set distances rather than presenting in tabular format. It' also got a decent G7 and reticle databases. A bit more clunky in use than Strelok Pro but probably as useful.

One of the other benefits of Strelok Pro, or the basic App, is the response for reticle addition requests. About 2 years ago I’d picked up the scope and the reticle was not on the App, sent off a quick email, within 72 hours it had been added onto both Apps

trickie

BallisticsARC. Seriously good and easy to use (paid for version). The ballistic truing function is particularly useful. You can buy a cheap weatherflow windmeter which plugs into an iphone and feeds into the app; as good as a Kestrel at a fraction of the price!

Both those options are available in Strelok Pro 👍

If you want something not too serious and depending on your scope. Works great for me. You can select factory ammo or tailor it to your home loads.

StrelokPro.
It'll do everything you need , factory ammo , homeloads , drop down bullet files for b.c and length , multiple ret' choices , add a windflow, android or ios , velocity and b.c truing, etc .
Most importantly, it's very easy to drive with very little practice . I'm probably not getting the best out of it and it's getting me 1st round varmints at a hell of a distance.

Got to agree. Used to use Ballistic Arc but Strelok Pro (once you've trued the ballistics) is a more rounded and quicker tool to read in the field. My first go at gongs proved it's worth with first shot hits on the bull out to 600m. My mate then did the same with his rifle. Both rifles were standard factory jobs with no tweaking.
I wouldn't shoot at live animals at those ranges, but it's satisfying to know that if I had too finish off a wounded beast at over 300m range then the capability to allow me to do it is there, without having to guess the holdover.
Thanks has to be given to Rich Sharman for advice and tips on getting the best out of it, and on reading the wind too!

I now have Strelok Pro on both my iPad and my iPhone. The layout of different functions differs between them differs - understandably given the different screen sizes. It's becoming my goto app. Also I like the MPBR function. This is something that is lacking on many other apps.

The adage "A picture is worth a thousand words" or in this case numbers comes to mind though. Would love to be able to graph the trajectories. Speaking of which, comparisons on other apps seem to only be between different projectiles/loads in one rifle. I would like to be able to graph different rifles (calibres and chamberings) against each other.

Cheers
