Best Gaiters?

I've used Yeti gaiters for a good few years. Great gaiter and keeps your boots in good condition too.
The only downside is they slip off the toe when crawling I've found or going through brambles.
So I've changed over to fjallraven ones to try. They fit really nicely around the boots and calves.

I've been using the plain green army surplus ones. They come in different lengths and are about a tenner. Plain ones seem to be quieter than camo. The long wires are a faf but you can either cut one off and tie the other at the required length for your boot, or just cut them both off. Mine are still going after 6 seasons beating.

No best for me so far, closest I have found are the Fjallraven Singi gaiters although they still leave a bit to be desired on the durability front.

Most designs fail in a few areas:

1. 'Waterproofing' done wrong, the Fjallraven ones are waxed canvas, so the are not strictly waterproof (although I do wonder how you can make a gaiter and claim it to be waterproof, as it simply wraps round the boot/upper leg). Had a pair of Highlander then Harkila gaiters, both resulted in more water inside the gaiter through sweat/perspiration being unable to evaporate through, not nice!

2. Securing strap that goes under boot between heel and instep, better to have one that is field replaceable than some form of complicated cable/neoprene setup. They will eventually wear away on rocky ground so better to have a way to swap them out. Would rather have a simple leather buckle and strap that can be easily swapped out with at least 1 spare set provided.

3. Zip that runs through the gaiter. Sometimes mine have not held completely solid throughout the day. Helps to have top and bottom press studs.

4. Ease of donning. Most take ages to put on and sometimes longer to take off. Some contortion required!

As per an earlier comment by @Pedro some waterproof/showerproof trousers like Swazi and Fjallraven have integrated features that have made gaiters a bit redundant.
