Best IR illuminator with Alpex A50T

Evening peeps.

Looking for recommendations on which IR illuminator would be good to pair with the Hikmicro Alpex A50T. I was after a Wicked Light A51IR but it seems that no one has stock of them.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

If it's going on an air rifle or rimfire for ranges out to around 100m then pretty much any LED based IR torch will do the job
If it's for longer ranges then a laser based IR would be a better bet
This is a good LED based IR Black Sun 2 B22 IR illuminator
This is a good laser based IR Black Sun Dark Engine BLADE IR illuminator

Cheers

Thanks for the reply Bruce . Ideally I’d like to run it on both my 22lr for rabbit’s as well as occasionally on the 243 for foxes, so I guess the laser based would give me more flexibility right?

No need for the massive torches, the Dark Engine Blade will do everything you need and is half the weight of them.

Thanks for the recommendations guys. I have ordered a Dark Engine Blade as most advised. I've also ordered one of the cheap illuminators recommended by @Ratsbadboy (thanks for the recommendation) off AliExpress. It says it will take about 65 days to get here, but I thought it would be interesting to do a side by side comparison of a top(ish) end unit vs one that is tenth the price.

Another vote for the Blade. I use it with my Alpex for CF rifles and have no issues at all.

For RF and air rifle, the £50 Ludicrous Lumens is ideal for these rifles and ranges.

I use the DFK from Lee Poland and it's absolutely brilliant. Superbly clear and very impressive at range. Lee's also a great guy to deal with - good comms and fast service.
Yes, I'm sure it is, but don't let Trading Standards get their hands on it, or it could be the same situation as happened with PBIR :)

Cheers

Both my .308 and my .243 have these from Aliexpress fitted to an Alpex A50T. Shot a fox at 248 yards last night with the .243 and could see it at clear as day : 12.15ï¿¡ 40% OFF|Hunting Ir Tactical Flashlight | Tactical Infrared Flashlight - 850nm/940nm Infrared - Aliexpress
Despite what you may think, you don't need to spend a fortune on a night vision illuminator.
This is the same as the ones that were sold by Precision Nightvision, they do throw a long way, but I found that they suffer from a lot of noise and are simply too bright when tightly focussed.

If you want a cheap VCSEL this one works better, zoomable and dimmer, and looks like the basis for many of the more expensive options out there.
Edit, make sure you pick the VCSEL not LED option.

I use Opticfire torches and really pleased with them. Had one for 5 years and just got a smaller IR one on my Alpex.

If it’s a A51R you’re after, I have one a don’t use.

How does the Blade compare to the one that already comes with the Alpex?
Hi Lloyd. Unfortunately I won't be able to answer that as I am getting the Alpex in a deal with the Habrok (whenever they start shipping) and it does not come with the illuminator apparently.
