Partially for fun, and partially because Ill be Getting a new one soon. What Is Your Favourite Mod for active/highseat stalking?

Ive tryed to put on as many as I can think of, but if I've missed any shout and I'll put them on.

It would also be nice if you could do a wee speech about which on you picked to :)

Thanks

Sam

I would say T8 only because its what i have and find it very good apart from the weight:shock: One of my mates has a north star and it seem ok.

Prov:-D

Well I went with the PES (scout), I honestly think they are the best comprimise between Noise reduction, Wieght, cost and balance. Although I havent tried a Titanium yet, so they might be the cats pyjamies! :D

PES Scout is useless on anything above a 243 IMHO. Northstar is good as it is stainless and and can go on any rifle without bushes.

Best sound moderator (for moderating sound from centre fire rifle) is the T8

smaller means louder it is just physics.

I'd have to disagree with that Dan.

I have a T12 Scout on my .270 and I have to say that it's very effective.

Never had any complaints, in fact a lot of people have been impressed with how quiet it is.

There is a VERY big difference between firing it with and without the T12.

You pay's your money and you takes your choice.

I use a T4 on a Sauer 202 Outback in 6.5, I find it a good mod for the rifle, its not too heavy and it doesnt unbalance the rifle.
During the season i saw a wildcat mod being used on a .270 and was very impressed by the mod.

None for me well not on my stalking rifles anyway ,do have one for my .17hmr think its an LEI doesn't say on it what it is but works well.

I am considering the Wildcat Compact. I have a T8 on my 6.5x55 at the moment and would like something slightly lighter, but it has to be stainless and preferably modular. I see PES are advertising a new stainless mod that weighs about 600gms, that could be the answer, but so could Mr Banners Compact!

Sam, I know there were quite a few stories like yours that did the rounds when Mr Banner first produced the Wildcat, I would be interested to know the outcome of the incident.

If it was not operator error, what caused it to blow up?

How much did your friend settle out of court for?

How was the design changed after the incident to allow it to still be on sale?

My friend Gary is a time served precision engineer who has one on his 7x64, he is very pleased with it. There is a certain Mr "Deker" on this site who rates them enough to have bought three of the Wildcat Compacts; http://www.thestalkingdirectory.co.uk/attachment.php?attachmentid=145&d=1267318318
This is along with the many others on here who have written of their liking for the Wildcat.

I still want an all stainless steel, light, compact and modular moderator.

i went with a pes and i have to say very pleased it balances well with my 270 and seems quiet enough but i havnt tried any other and hopefully shouldnt have too, wayne

I have a jet z and i'm very pleased with it. Went for it due to the fact my mate had one after his T8 blew hot gasess on his barrell, and yes it was looked after.

i've used and owned t4, t8, jetz cqb, and pes 12. - i've tried wildcat, jetz, quicksilver titanium, asu utra s5.

currently have t4 on .243, t4 on .308 and i'm looking for a t8 for the 22-250.

the t4's keep my rifles short and manageable, and cut the noise/recoil to acceptable levels, i want a t8 for the 22-250 to minimise noise and flip as much as possible - i still havent heard anything that beats a t8 to my ear. to stop them rusting i put them on the radiator to dry out if they have been fired, i dont put oil inside them but do spray the outside occasionally.

i thought the pes 12 and jetz cqb were overated in terms of noise reduction.

My moenys on the T8's and Jet-Z mods. After a few experiences I dont trust any mod that screws together!

I've had a T8 now for about 8 years using on my 243 and now my 6.5 and is still working away just fine! also have a PES now for my 243 which also is a good mod, but have to keep checking it doent start unscrewing!

, Would you care to expand upon the screw together bit? As a few of my rifles are screwed together (in places), Steve.

I was talking about mods, not guns.
I'll keep it very quick as I have to go out but both always started unscrewing during use, and one memorable occasion whilst zeroing the sheath ( outer bit of mod) came off and went down range. I then bought T8's and Jet-Z's and have never had any problems apart from rust with them, but they are cheap enought to use and if knackered after 5 years when renewal comes up you can buy another one.
