.The home made ones are the best.
If you make the rear legs slightly (3") shorter than the front when you want to use single sticks its easy. Also if you need to adjust the angle you just lift the butt of the stock out with your shoulder and shoot. Can't help but feel the commercial ones are just a gimick.
"I made mine from aluminium garden poles, cost me £5 and cant fault them"
Me too, got some metal ones covered in green plastic from B+Q and a couple of chunky rubber bands. Not to everyone's taste but really lightweight, quiet, strong, simple to use and nicely coloured so blend in well
I would agree now. Today a stalking buddy came round and dropped some dvd's off for me to watch whilst Im waiting for my leg to get better. These dvd's were african hunting films. Watching these lads shooting of 3 legged sticks made up of no more than ouf hazel equivelent bound with rubber was to be-hold. Shots up to 350yds were taken of these tripods. I going to get to b@q and get a third bean pole and try to make something up.

Go for some bamboo canes they are very strong and light and much quieter than metal. Use an old cycle inertube cut to make a shrt band to bind them.Twist and run through a short piece of water pipe to keep the legs slightly apart.
Check out the twin sticks thread in deer stalking equipment.I have used these sticks with John Robson of YDS and they are very good. Will be ordering a set in due course.
No problem Nutty, I am a bit busy tomorrow but will try and get some images on ASAP.Interesting can you do a picture please.

Due to the flexible nature of the joints the sticks can be used as single stick as here and also have a moderate amount of movement as quads.
I have made mine with the rear legs joined to the front about a third of the way from the bottom.
