Right chaps, i will shortly be reloading for the 243 when my variation comes through, so its homework time,
i can get hold of Viht powder fairly easy at the moment so i will want to use that,
i have 4kg of N555 that i had for my 6.5 creedmoor so it would be nice to use that, and i believe i can, i also have a fair bit of N140 that i use for my 223, but iv also read that N150 and N160 will work well to,
bullet weight yet to be decided so open to suggestions, favoured bullets are Hornady and sierra, will be used for roe deer only, and a bit of long ish range gong bashing, rifle will no doubt be a tikka t3x 1:8 twist 20" barrel,

thanks.

May I suggest download the vhit vouri app it's free. With a 1:8 ratio even the heaviest bullet should stabilize and the VV app gives alternative powders with suggested min max loads for each manufacturers product

Vihtavuori .243 Load - N555 seems to work across most bullet weights, so if you have it, stick with it. You can try N140 as well if you have it. I would recommend having one powder that ticks multiple calibers if you can. Look out for bullets that you can source locally and are available in plenty when working out a load. What works for others may not work for you, so its an excercise worth undergoing to find that load that is consistent for your rifle and hits the sweet spot. As 10 people, you will probably get 10 different answers all of which works for them but may not work for you.

I use N140 across multiple calibers and it was based on availability. I worked out the bullet that works with the poweder as it was easier to order bullets online than get multiple tubs of powder. Just my view.
