Binos and separate LRF or combined unit?

In my "early days" (all recreational stalking), I zeroed my rifle at 100 yards and just took the very straight forward 80 to 130 yard shots until I built confidence (doable on a lot of UK Roe stalking). I don't think this would be a bad way to start. I did get a cheap range finder, used it to test my self, I have an out door job, left it in the truck testing my self daily on guessing ranges then confirming with the RF. seemed a good way to learn range as a beginner.

Think it depends on your stalking and budget. I have both options. For main deer season on the fallow I use swaro EL range as sometimes longer shots on fields, also use them on reds in Scotland.

For roe bucks I use Leica 7x42 for wide field of view, often in woodland and carry a seperate leica range. Different setups for different stalking.

I have had the same pair of 7x42 Swarovskis bought new in 1989 never been serviced and still crystal clear, purchased a cheap vortex rangefinder which does the job when needed, I believe in keeping it simple.

The problem is you end up with too much kit to carry and all sorts around your neck getting in the way of the rifle sling etc. if your budget will stretch to it I’d look at the hik HABROK 4k thermal, day optic and lrf in one handy unit.
