Blaser, love them or hate them?

this is is meaningless , many many turn bolts could do this and they would mostly be cheaper than the blaser ?

I have a 15yo remmy in 308 that will do this with its original remmy barrel , it's been bedded but it's still a cheaper option than the blaser ? (And with factory tap ammo)

Not after they had been completely dismantled and then re-built they couldn't!

not easily no , but if you removed the scope yes you could and if you removed the barrel then re torqued it back in you could , i've taken my barrelled action out of the stock and the poi has never changed on refitting ?

so not really valid imo ? certainly not worth the risk of being blown up anyway!

Of course its valid.. you would be very hard pushed to take a standard rifle, strip oit down completely including barrel off, put it in a small case, drive to Scotland, reassemble it (we'll ignore the fact it takes less than 30 seconds) and know it will shoot exactly where it shot last time. with a standard rifle you would need torque wrenches, tools and you would definately need to re-zero!

There is no greater risk of being blown up with a Blaser as there is with any other fiream from any manufacturer.. the internet is littered with mangled/missing limbs and firearms in bits... almost always caused by pilot error... either a monumental reloading gaff or an obstructed barrel!

what do you drive that won't fit a rifle in? i get 4 assembled plus kit in mine for the drive to scotland ? if thats your only requirement buy a bigger car (cheaper than a blaser!) or get a folding stock or a DTA ?

blaser is not that special thats the point i'm trying to make , there just another rifle no more no less , with a few well documented failures and a modification from the manufacturer post detonation , so whats your point?

Not sure what great benefit there is to being able to take it apart and put it back together again with the assurance of the same POI.

If it's a small package for travelling you're after, I've taken my Sako 85 out of its stock and carried the action / scope and stock side by side in a case. The overal length of the action / scope is about 28". So the case is not much longer. Probably not as short as a Blaser, but short enough for the cased rifle to not "look like a gun".

I use one of Mike Norris's torque wrenches to tighten up the action in the stock. POI doesn't change, although I've never not checked it.

I've used Blasers in the past and am intrigued by them as they're something a bit different. I'm certainly not anti. However, I've never thought the extra advantages they offer over a normal bolt action justify the additional cost.

Gives us something to talk about through !!!

Cheers,

Bob

Will a Tikka T3 in capable hands do the same job as a Blaser at a fraction of the cost? Of course it will.
What do I own, a Blaser R93. Why?
Because I Bloody can.
If you don't like them then don't winge and bitch about them, just buy something else and shut up. FFS

oh come on , blaser owners are second only to landrover owners for sport when it comes to winding them up ?

love the shouting by the way , really intimidating x

A bit harsh !!!!!!
I have only recently converted from Tikka and Remington to Blaser and still getting my head around the straight pull concept.I have to say as stated in previous threads I like is versatility to change barrels and how compact it can be made for discreet transportation.
Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and would be rather sad if well all drove the same car,had the same house etc etc etc!!!!!

This is what I don't get... the way people go on, as a layman, one could be fooled ito thinking Blasers were £10,000 where an equivalent anything else is £50....

I paid £2,200 for my R8 Pro, new and A sako 85 synthetic is what.... £1,400? equivalent quality and build of most other european rifles.. Mauser, Sauer, Steyr et al are all around the same price as the Blaser and if not, they aren't a million miles away. Ok.. with some you might get a fancy bit of wallnut instead of composite but so what... £800 from synthetic sako to synthetic Blaser is hardly a munumental financial leap if you are in that kind of market.

It is a silly argument.. if you don't like them then fine, we are all individuals and all have different tastes but to expend time and energy coming up with reasons to hate them is a little beyond me. Have you ever owned a Blaser, lived with one as a stalking rifle? from your posts I would find that highly unlikely as you are obviously overly concerned about being blown up. That being the case you are probably the most uniquely UNQUALIFIED person to pass comment! I don't particularly like Ferarris but i wouldn't trawl the interweb trying to become an instant expert so I could level criticism of them as cars... how the hell would I know, I've never sat in one let alone driven or owned one!
Personally I have owned one, and would still if austerity measures weren't in place.. I went from Tikka to Sako to Blaser and... funds permitting, when things have settled down, it will be another Blaser I will buy.. not because 'I can,' not because 'I'm a snob,' not even because I think it is the most accurate rifle out there... my T3 lite was marginally more accurate (go figure) but because out of all the rifles I have owned and used upto and including my Sako TRG, the Blaser gave me, by a huge margin, the most pleasure to own and use!

If its performance you are after then buy a Nissan GTR but if that is all that mattered, no one would ever buy Ferarris, Lamourghinis, Bugattis...... or aspire to own them.. Or.. forget the Purdy.. by a Beretta!

I don't know what it is about Blasers that generates so much hate and cynicism.. what I do know is that virtually all those that criticise and villify Blasers have never shot one let alone owned one!

I am not saying that turnbolts are inaccurate, what I am saying is that Blasers are accurate.
