Blaser R8 'Internals'

have you looked at a blaser?

how would you line up the slide?

Well I have owned an R93 and currently owns R8, so yes I have looked at them once or twice. The reasons I have them are manifold, but partly because I liked the idea that everything is hung off the barrel making it inherently accurate...fewer elements to be misaligned.

If the stock should be badly made...and there is no reason to suppose that it is...the misalignment of the slide may affect the cycling but not the accuracy...the floating bolt head is floating and so will conform to the barrel as usual and thus not introduce any inaccuracy.

I certainly do not disagree with you there...but then that's why there are specialist stock makers, and that's why some people bed rifle actions into Devcon or similar...let the resin make the precision fit.

My point about the Blaser system is that it almost does not require any clever bedding to work...the barrel mount, the floating bolt head and the direct scope attachment obviate a lot of the need for precision stock work.

I am sure you could part exchange the wooden thumbhole stock for a new standard wooden stock with out any problems. And not have that much to pay either. That would have been the route I would have favoured.

If I swopped the thumbhole for a standard wooden stock I would expect some money coming my way not the other way round !!
Have you seen how much they are on a certain web site near Bristol ?

EMcC, if you have your custom stock, Why don't you just follow the instructions in the video i posted?

if you ever want to use your thumbhole again you could just swap back.

When I go out I normally decide on the spur of the moment so to change over would be a bit fiddly and time, maybe not much, consuming.
I have a couple of options but all are a bit expensive so far.
