Replaced my Dover extreme with a new pair .
Bought in February but not used until the season kicked off
Rand is already disintegrating so they are of back to the shop today

What the hell do I replace them with ? Opinions are so varied it’s unreal.
My last pair of Dovre lasted 15 yrs then I sold them on !

crispi

Crispi Nevada Legend EFX GTX very pleased with them. 4 years old and no issues. great ankle support.
they do a couple of taller pairs too that are similar to the extremes.

I have got through a lot of boots. Last pair fell apart after 8 weeks. The most reliable I have found are:

1. Lundhags shell (unlined) boots - very expensive though and take a bit of breaking in. Totally waterproof in my experience

2. William Lennon boots - again take a lot of breaking in and aren’t totally waterproof. Very good boots but I would say Lundhags are better

3. Rogue boots- soft, comfortable, reasonably priced and well made. Not waterproof in any way though. Definitely a summer boot.

Iturri desert boot (not waterproof but very comfortable) or Altberg. AKU are decent as long as the membrane doesn't get clogged.

They are contacting Meindle tomorrow.
A SD member works there so I’m hoping I haven’t managed to upset him on here and he helps push things along lol 😂

Don’t bother with brandecosse.
Fair play I tend to do about 15,000 steps a day, but these have only lasted a year and they’re ****ed. Brandecosse don’t want to know and said it looks like I’ve “walked them out” . Quite what else your expected to do with a pair of boots I don’t know.

Dedito Moorland - high leg.
Have had a pair for 3 plus years now and can’t fault them. They have been used for beating, dog walks, stalking etc and abused fairly hard.

Will be getting a new pair for next season

I’ve been using meindl for well over 10 years and not had a bad pair yet.

But I do buy size 13’s I don’t know if that makes a difference in the way they’re made like I said not bad there yet

My Meindls have just gave up but they are around 10yr old so I can't complain, The sole came away on mine but like I say they are old now and have seen a lot of use

Sorry to hear about the meindles. Ive tried all sorts over the years and ive always really liked the dover's, they fit my feet just right. Thankfully ive never paid for a pair which is just as well because I believe they're upwards of £300 theses days.
Quality wise, they have taken a noticeable dive. The last two pairs have disinterested within 12 months but thats with everyday abuse.
Currently im spinning this pair out with intermittent use of dedito moorland boots, these seem pretty decent and for less money.
Also im guessing we'll shop at the same place going by your location?? 😁
Im sure theyll see you right, their custom service is pretty decent in my experience. 👍

Go old school Scarpa SL’s - quality 3 season mountain boot that’s all leather, no membrane. Keep them treated with HS12 cream and they won’t let you down.
A classic boot. Like you say no membrane but 100 % waterproof. Might be a little low for some but that's down to preference.
