Bloody Samsung!

Best telly I had back in the day was a Grundig with a wooden box. And a remote and Ceefax. Luxury! Last two have been Panasonics. The truth is that you can get a fair quality telly these days from most manufacturers and they are usually reliable. I use a small local firm, a Euronics one. They give good advice, will deliver and set it up for free and usually call around the same day if there’s a problem. Can’t beat that. Of course you can also spend a small fortune on one. Are they that much better though?

Have only had very good experiences with Samsung, have 5 in the house non have ever given a problem only time I have replaced them was to upgrade to 4K rather than issue with the older one
I think the older units are more reliable. My one (UE59AU9007K if you want to look it up) was a 4k UHD job and these are the ones that are somewhat flaky.
Even the Samsung authorised repair chap said that out of 10 tv’s they can expect 2-3 to have a screen / backlight issue within a couple of years - almost like the units are prone to failure.
Thing is the knackered TV cost me c£550 about 3 years ago but the repair is £400 + labour, so likely £500-550, but the replacement tv is more like £300!
So there is zero incentive for manufacturers to provide spares simply because the units become obsolete so quickly.
Just pi$$es me off tho as it’s just for the tip now!

I had a Samsung freezer, went south about 2 months after the warranty ended, surprise surprise.
Won’t ever touch Samsung no more, my tv is LG, no issues with it at all.

I splashed out on a Loewe tv with a built in hard drive back in 2017, still going strong.
