Bog deathgrip

I have a sunwayfoto ball head with qd arca clamp plate that I don't need anymore if this is of interest mate

Done it, everyone who I know uses quads as you can travel lighter, deploy quicker and it's more stable for accurate long range shooting
You still refuse to understand... yes quads are more stable but carrying the tripod open it's deployed in one second or so.

Weighed my 4 Stable Sticks, some basic model with added shrink wrap, 950 grams. My carbon tripod with 3D printed clamp and panning base (130 gram) that's strictly speaking not necessary, weighs 1600 grams. Personally I don't find even 3 kgs or so any burden, I have rifle slung on my chest, tripod hanging in left hand, thermal in right hand. Same for quads.

Much heavier and walking around with a deployed rifle and gun on anything but flat straight terrain, for multiple shots with a tripod..... that's just torture...

I'l STICK with my method

I chose a Sunwayfoto mlok arca rail myself, not sure on the krg bravo fitting options?? You could try Black Rifles, they manufacture their own rails and are good to go! Pete's a good lad and on here as Major Disorder I believe? Failing that the sunwayfoto rail is available on amazon mate

Arca Rail Amazon

Black Rifle Arca
I took a chance and bought this haoge cp 64mm quick release Arca clamp on Amazon.
It fits perfectly and gives me the option to quickly remove the saddle clamp and use a rifle with an Arca rail fitted.
Just have to wait now until march scopes have the rail I want back in stock again.

Nice setup mate, I did the same a while back, having a qd option for the clamp and a rail on the rifle. Never used the clamp afterwards really lol put arca/picatinny on all rifle fore ends

I will probably do the same. Still nice to be able to quickly put the clamp back on if I'm out with a mate that wants to use it on his rifle.

I have upgraded my bog to a crapper:doh:

Seriously, I have taken the heavy clamp off it and replaced it with a ball mount and sparten arca mount.
Bit skeptical at first but a couple of trial runs and its great. I have also added some lubricant to the clamps which has quietened them down.

This has reduced the amount of weight as well.

If I was doing this again, I would get the Infinity model

This thread inspired me to do the same, a 3d printed sleeve and 2.5" 3/8 bolt allows you to fit a ball mount that fits an Arca plate. I fitted an Arca plate to rifle fore end and it's sorted, seems as rigid if not more so than the original saddle.
An Arca plate can be attached to the saddle, which can still be used if required.
The ball mount is definitely an improvement over the original bearing mechanism.

This is the 3d print I found to use

Just be careful not to overtighten the ball clamp, I have just repaired a stripped thread on my mates one, Its a M6 into aluminium, which I thought was asking a lot of clamp with a fairly heavy rifle on, I put a Helicoil insert in, which has made it stronger, The only thing wrong with the design is that if you do break the ball, you cant just unscrew it and put another one on, you would have to start again. i still think for strength and value for money a Innorel RT90C and a ND52 Ball head takes some beating, the Legs are rated for 40kg, you could easily put double on that, and the Ball head is rated for 25KG, so once it's locked up, there is little to no wobble.

I am thinking of purchasing a DeathGrip Infinite Tripod, in either the carbon or aluminium version. Anyone with experience of the Infinite? It seems like they have a built in ball head, which makes them more usable. When I compare them, the aluminium version weighs about 0,65 kg more which is not that much even though a weight saving would be appreciable, especially for long walks. My biggest concern is however the carbon material itself. I previously had a 4 Stable Stick Ultimate Carbon (in addition to a Primos Triggerstick Tripod), but it put me off because you could find carbon dust in the bag after use and I therefore sold it. Carbon residue is not exactly healthy and with the DeathGrip Infinite you would slide the legs up and down almost like in a grinding movement. Anyone who has noticed if this one leaves carbon residue behind? I have read that some similar photo tripods can do that . I by the way have a lot of carbon fly rods as well as other things made out of carbon cloths/resins but in those cases the material is contained.

Best of all worlds but still a tad heavy but rock solid . Modified the death grip with a zero fox given adaptor gives me a ball head arca rail or the original clamp in seconds removes the faff of having to perfectly level the legs not cheap buy then rifle isn't going to fall off this .

It looks great. 👍My original idea was to modify the Triggerstick with a ball head/arca, but the are not sturdy enough. The Infinite versions of the DeathGrip seem to come with a ball head right from the start so you do not have to modify them. Do you have the aluminium or carbon version? I am not sure which way to go. I often have a fairly long walk to my stand, but it is not that big of a weight difference between them.

Mine is the aluminium version, I have heard not much good said about the ball head infinity pod which is why I modded mine plus I could run the arca rail and clamp. To suit which rifle I am using at the time.

Thanks. I will have to think about which way to go then. What negatives have you heard? It seems difficult to get the exact right tension on the ball head in the film.

The main problem is that yes also I have heard it is not as robust. Can't say as I have not seen one. My ball head is a 40 mm and I have fired my .308 off it no problem

Just modified my bog death grip using the Nightsnipe ball head converter mount and their Saddle Converter Arca-Swiss Mount. It was quite expensive but I bought the tripod used for a decent price, so it was well worth it in my opinion.

I’ve been enjoying mine for the last two years… until I encountered exactly this… the aluminium thread now stopped and won’t tighten.. I’m practical with most things and have a tap & did set.. how easy is if to fix?

Hi chaps, thinking of getting a bog deathgrip, £192 im currently using my monfrotto camera tripod with ball head with a chepo clamp off ebay, seems to work ok but wonder if id be best using the deathgrip for the extra £100 as selling my tripod and ball head will probably be worth £100 ish,
But as you can see. It’s a bit flimsy at he the bottom compared to the death grip. View attachment 339950
thanks.

I would ask what do you want to do with it?
The saddle weighs a ton.
I replaced my saddle with an arca ball joint which dramatically reduced the weight without loss of stability. If I was doing this again I would go for the carbon twist lock leg as well as the clips are a pain to set.
I also use the Spartan system and again they do an arca attachment.
Mine is used for mainly vermin control and I use quad sticks out stalking.
Hope that helps
