You think the Brandecosse boots would soften over time? Quite fancy a pair of Cervus to replace my Dovres when they’re knackered. Wonder if they’ll end up taking a year to break in, they look seriously heavy duty.
I’m rapidly exhausting options here, so on the off chance someone has any pearls of wisdom, let’s see...
So.
I’ve had Lowa Hunter GTX, good boots, but (and it probably could have been remedied with insoles), I found the footbed unsupportive for my feet.

I tried a pair, but they went straight back in the box and were returned. Solid, quality, probably last a lifetime yes, but for me at least had an orthotic rigidity to them which felt like it would never soften. I have their Rubicon boots and they’re lovely but for whatever reason the cervos did not float my boat.
Well, possibly against better judgement I’ve had ordered the Lundhags professional direct from Sweden..... watch the classifieds for a secondhand bargain if they don’t work out!!!
I had a pair a few years back which were on offer on sport pursuit of all places, I found the shaft wasn’t as supportive or padded, and the foot bed and general shell seemed thinner in comparison to the professional 2’s. I appreciate black boots aren’t what everyone wants but I wanted comfort and stability, once they’re covered in mud they ain’t black!
When men were men, Hogg's fully sprung fell boots with triple Hobbs. Good enough for the six fell huntsmen. Great after the first three years breaking them in. Soak inside and out in a bucket of neatsfoot oil for starters.
