I am planning a bow hunt in Namibia 2026. Looking at October for 7 days hunting so will be away for 9-10 days allowing for travel.
I dont really want to go alone but I will if needs be so who fancies a bow trip? I have found a lovely place not far from Swakupmund.
Cost would be £1500 (approx) for the week plus animals. The area is 12000 acres and is low fenced they have 12 pits, blinds. They can only take 6 hunters and they do not mix groups so if only 2 of us go no other hunters will be there.
Who is up for it?

Fantastic opportunity and generous of you to reach out to fellow bow hunters. I might need to get some practice in! What are the Namibian regulations for archery equipment?

Hi mate, No import licence or paperwork etc. Big 5 not allowed.
Large game, Kudu, Eland, Oryx, Zebra, Waterbuck, Red Hartebeest. 65 pound bow. Min. Arrow weight 450 grns.
Medium game, Warthog, Impala, Nyala, Baboon etc . 40 pound bow, min arrow weight 400 grns.
Archers should be happy at 20-30 yards.
I have hunted Namibia on many occasions with rifle and bow please ask anything you like. I will be paying for my hunt so no one will be subsidising my hunting.

How jumpy are those animals on the string, i.e. what shooting distance you see as optimum? As a background, e.g. for whitetail the >20y approaching 30y might be the hardest distance.

How easy have you found the usual blind setup, comfortable to sit in, can you draw when you like or do you need to stay drawn for longer time, are you shooting clear or through some veil / netting etc?

20 - 30 yrds would be the norm. I am competent up to 30 so thats what I stick to. Last year was my first bow hunt and it was all walk and stalk so I have no experience of the blinds. I shot at 5 animals last year and killed 2, the 3 I missed was just my error. I did not experience any string jump, it was commented that my bow was very quite.

Check the blinds for snakes before settling in!
