Boyds service

I have a stock on the way from Boyds. They were very helpful and answered pre-order questions within 24 hrs. The problem is UPS.
Paid 130 USD for UPS to UK. 3 days after UPS collected the package from Boyds, I got an email asking for 2 forms to be submitted. First was a simple question list to specify what the item is from a list which included airsoft, antiques etc and required a copy of my FAC..
Second one was a copy of my import licence. This was difficult as my research indicated this was not required by UK for a rifle stock. I replied to UPS, but got bombarded over this weekend for me to submit this form.
So this morning I applied and received a GB EORI ID number and then submitted an import licence request. Got the following reply:

"
Dear applicant,

You have not been given access to apply for an import licence.

Reason: The following require an import licence as they are the only parts that meet the definition of a component part of a firearm as per the Firearms Act 1968, as amended: a barrel, chamber or cylinder, a frame, body or receiver, a breech block, bolt or other mechanism for containing the pressure of discharge at the rear of the chamber. A Firearm or Shotgun Certificate is required to import component parts of all firearms except those falling to Section 5(1)(a), 5(1)(aba) and 5(1A)(a) firearms where a valid Section 5 authority is also required.
All other parts including any items such as magazines, sights and other attachable accessories along with firearms furniture such as grips and stocks are not considered to be component parts and as a result do not require an import licence.
The only accessories that require an import licence are items designed or adapted to diminish the noise or flash caused by firing the weapon. No other firearm accessory, e.g. sights, tripods, bags, belts etc., requires an import licence."

Have now been told by UPS that the stock was imported yesterday and have paid the £84 for an AT One stock with a picatinny adapter (Sako L579).
Hopefully it will be delivered on Thursday this week...

The stock arrived last week. Initial impressions positive. The laminate (forest green) is very good and the external finish perfect. The adjustable recoil pad has useful range of movement as does the cheek comb, although this is a bit stiff to adjust. The inletting is a bit rough and it fits the action close enough to shoot, but there is a bit of free play. Thinking of glass bedding it which will be described in a separate thread.
