Brass

Hi all,

About to embark on the addiction of reloading and need your help and advice. I have collected numerous different brasses from factory loads ie Lapua, RWS, Winchester.

Now its time to start reloading, its for a 243W.

I never had a good grouping with the Lapua but have found the RWS to group really well.
What effect would the brass have on this grouping? Should I stick to the cases of the round that grouped well?

I have read alot of the threads on bullet heads, type of powder and primers etc but there is not much on the brass case. Is the brass critical for accuracy?

Any advice greatly appreciated,

ATB

You will not get identical results from different brass as internal capacities can vary also different primers have a different burn rate so they too can alter the final result.
Currently I am using RWS Geco brass in my Tikka .243 but am using Rem.Peters in a friends .243 BSA.
It is only by experimenting that you will arrive at the ultimate setting.
Whilst it is possible to drop upon a one-hole load right away sometimes it can take a while.

As said stick with same make of brass and primers continuity is what you are after,
measure your chamber and bullet choice correctly AOL to achieve your best seating depth,
full length resizing or neck sizing can have an effect on your loads
keep an eye out for pressure signs as you work up to your min to max loads
start of simple then you can adjust things to tweak your loads
