Brattonsound Cabinet Lock

You've had a Brattonsound safe for two years.

Their warranty is as follows:

All Brattonsound Gunsafes are guaranteed against mechanical failure faults for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase. During that time our warranty is to repair on-site* at our option, or replace at no charge a gunsafe that proves to have faulty components or workmanship.

In addition to this warranty key operated locks and other mechanical parts on all Brattonsound Gunsafes are guaranteed for a further 2 years. Please Note. Electronic Digital locks are not covered by this extended period.

Under no circumstances should the customer make any attempt to repair the gunsafe or authorise anyone else to do so without our express knowledge and approval during the warranty period as this may render the warranty null and void.

They further state that:

The “on-site” aspect of this warranty and the warranty for the lock in years 2 and 3 is provided through our lock supplier, a company from whom we have purchased locks for over 16 years. If this lock supplier defaults on the arrangement with us in any way this may, at our discretion, render these aspects of the warranty null and void.

Whilst admittedly there have been some issues in terms of securing the locksmith, which doubtless have caused some frustration for you, by your own admission earlier in this thread you have taken a crowbar to the safe in the intervening period. Understandable, perhaps, but one might question how the manufacturer might view this activity.

That aside, Brattonsound is now offering you a brand new replacement for your existing safe, PLUS a free 3-gun shotgun cabinet.

Why do you feel that Brattonsound has not provided a level of customer service in line with (if not exceeding) the terms of their stated warranty?

In Brattonsounds defence, I have 2 RL7+’s and 1 RL5+, for what is 12 years for the RL5+ and got to be getting on for 10 years for the other two.. Maybe I’m just lucky, but haven’t experienced problems with mine. I hope I’m not tempting fate, but if as a company to improve reliability, they need to upgrade their locks or expend a little money in R&D doing so it’s short sighted for them not too🤷🏽‍♂️
Agreed, a good cabinet let down by crappy locks.
Many good experiences for their products but doesn’t help when you’ve got shooting to do and you’re one of the unlucky ones.

Sticker and paperwork on the safe says 3 years, not two.
Crowbar was to slightly lift the door, per their suggestion. It certainly wasn’t a batter it attack…

See comment above yours re the shotgun cabinet 👍🏼

They do offer a 3 year warranty, as per their website. However it is one year on-site for the cabinet and years 2 and 3 through their lock provider.

What more did you expect them to do by way of customer service?

To resolve the issue by way of a locksmith within a reasonable period of time….
They have now resolved the issue by other means 👍🏼

Which is the most important thing of all :thumb:
Agreed - we all have different definitions on what is reasonable and I accept that.
I’m content with the outcome, albeit frustrated by letting one of my estate owners down by not being able to get out for a while.
Will I keep and use the replacement YES, would I buy another NO not while they’re using ‘perceived cheap locks’ (just my view).
