The brown bear is currently the big game with the highest density from our country. Almost a decade of hunting ban and bureaucracy caused by "green" propaganda and superficial politicians caused an explosion of the brown bear population, a large number of injured or killed people and millions of euros in agricultural damages.

I'm having access to both public and private hunting areas and I can organize brown bear hunts for individuals and even small groups.
I'm targeting only areas were either my partner or my self previously hunted.

Recommendations:
• 1-2 hunters willing to travel to Romania in autumn for a brown bear hunt in the Carpathians.
• Larger groups (4+) possible for driven hunts. They can be mixed with boar hunts.
• All hunters in reasonably fit condition. It is possible to also organize a hunt for people with low mobility
• Shooting distance is usually of 50-120m
• 3 full days for hunting (plus 2 for travel)
• Strong rifle caliber (starting from .30-06 and going up to .300WM, 8x68, 9.3x62 etc);

What is included?
• 4 days of 3-4* accommodation with meals
• 3 hunting days, including organizational fees, processing fee, guidance
• Transport from the Romanian airport to the hunting area and back.
• Transportation within the hunting area.
• Field preparation of the bear hide and skull
• Evaluation of the hide and skull according to CIC guidelines
• Guide from our company in addition to the one of the gamekeeper. (We will NOT drop you to a gamekeeper and leave, a representative of the company will stay with the hunter)

Extras and not included:
Additional hunting day €400
Romanian CITES €200
Borrowed rifle (if needed) €300
Storage, packaging, shipping, trophy transport, drinks, tips - Not included

How much it costs?
The price has 2 components: hunting organization fee (2000E/hunter) + shooting fee (depending on the gamekeeper and animal size)
VAT is not included.

The hunting quota for bears is very limited in our country because, despite our huge density of bears, it is still a protected species. A total number of ~500 bears are allocated to ~300 hunting areas. This is why the shooting price is not flat as for common species, but depends on the gamekeeper, hunting method and animal size.
Below is a list of shooting prices from different gamekeepers. The trophy evaluation takes place immediately after the bear has been skinned, before salting.

A brown bear fur scoring more than 300 CIC points is a C.I.C. gold medal!

Shooting prices for private hunting areas:

A. State owned hunting areas – 250 hunting areas spread in the entire country
B. Buzau - private hunting association from Buzau county with 23 hunting areas. At 2h drive from Bucharest or Brasov airports.
C. Vrancea – private hunting association from Vrancea county with 23 hunting areas. At 2-3h drive from Bucharest or Brasov airports.
D. Sibiu – private hunting club with a single hunting area in Sibiu county. At ~30 min from Sibiu airport

Just to get an idea about bear hunting in Romania, I attached a picture from the '80s. Now we have a much higher density!
My personal best in terms of bears on my stand at a drive hunt is 4. In the neighboring area, during autumn, we had a boar drive where a total of 17 bears appeared at the stands.
Sadly, the annual quota is now too low (1-2-4 /area) to obtain such results.

Its a beautiful country, I was a weekly commuter to and from there for year, in a previous life.
There is a museum of hunting trophies between Bucharest and Brasov with some very impressive pieces. Many from the time of the Chausescu’s, so a bit dark in some respects.
Also the country produces some very good and underrated wine. Watch out for the home made plum spirit though 💪.

I was informed by a last minute cancellation of a hunting group scheduled to hunt on a state managed area.
They have one remaining permit for brown bear valid until the end of the year.

The regular prices for this hunt are mentioned in the first post.
The discounted prices are:

1) Hunt organisation fee: 1800E/hunter/3 hunting days (4 accommodation days) + VAT
2) Shooting fee: 4400E + skull price (1500, 2800 or 4200 depending on skull size). The shooting fee includes VAT!

The rest of the details are exactly like in the first post.
Even if the permit is valid until the end of the year, I think that the chances are good until end of November.

Another cancellation, this time on a private hunting area.
One bear tag available.

1) Hunt organisation fee: 1800E/hunter/3 hunting days
2) Shooting fee: 6000E, flat price

VAT included
