"Bryan May Had Deer Killed"

Telegraph version of the article

Animal rights campaigner Brian May allowed deer to be culled on his estate - Telegraph

I like the way it says the contract was signed 7 months after he bought the estate, so much for him inheriting it!

I think it said that he inherited the "practice" of deer management on the land (which he then decided to continue), not that he inherited the contract.
I like the bit at the bottom from the RSPCA, which is effectively speaking in favour of deer stalking. That'll be worth keeping for quoting back to them at some point. Mind you, considering the RSPCA's recent behaviour with sheep at the docks, it seems they're quite into shooting these days!

I like the point he makes about having a lot to learn ????????????????

Somebody tell him you can`t educate pork, and he`d be better off if he P****D off back to where he came from and left the countryside to people who know and understand what the countryside entails

How can you possibly take anybody seriously with a hair style like that .... He needs a good slap !!!

I thought that was the most interesting part of the article!

Brian Mays Deer

Did I read this correctly. Brian May is having a deer cull on his property after taking expert advice!!
Does it mean that he has actually listened to someone that might know a bit more about "wildlife"
than he thinks he does.
Is it anybody on here that has been asked to do the job for him.
Wf1

I think it is the case that he had previously had culls carried out, but has now 'allegedly' stopped it.

Why would he listen to anyone?, he blatantly doesn't listen to his barber

I have always thought it pathetic that a grown man could adopt a walt disney view of badgers, and wildlife in general.
I now feel nothing but contempt for him.
Talk about double standards.

I actually ahd lunch with him yesterday through work, wish I had been aware of this then could have made for some interesting conversations. I would agree with most peoples sentiments on here about him getting involved in things he does not really understand but wouldnt go so far as some. He is actually a pretty decent guy just ill educated, surely ppl should be adressing that as a root cause rather than just labelling these people as '****s' who have moved out from the city.

Re: The Telegraph

The comment at the end by the RSPCA on this subject (OK to Cull one species and not the other) suggests to me that their stance on the badger TB problem is a PR tactic. Which is also the reason successive governments avoid it like the plague!

Left to its own devices nature will sort the problem of over population of one species out, through disease and famine etc. Hence the increasing incidence of TB with the increasing numbers of badgers.

This also reminds me of a story I heard of the deer on LACS land in somerset a few years back where the numbers went up and up and with no management plan in place and all started suffering from TB I believe

Mother Nature is a very cruel mistress and anyone arguing against sensible culling in the name of animal welfare is sadly misguided and is in fact having the opposite effect as to what they intend.
