  • 21st December (Sunday)
  • 5th January (Monday)

  • 15th February (Sunday)

  • 22nd March (Sunday)

These are exciting days where you will be positioned in a high seat or tower with a clean and safe shot towards proven deer travel routes - also known as "deer movement days" the activity on the ground is strategically planned to keep deer moving throughout the day, meaning it's rarely a dull day in a seat!

This Chinese Water Deer cull day is on an estate with a mixed arable & livestock farm, as well as a pheasant shoot. Deer species present on the ground are Chinese Water Deer, Muntjac, and Roe. This is a large estate where we take a significant number of deer every year as part of our management plan, however we are limiting each guest to a maximum of 4 Chinese Water Deer per day to ensure sustainability.

Booking "GROUP DAY" options means you are paying for 1 or 2 seats for a whole day culling, others can book on the same day so there may be other people shooting on the same day who you do not know - this is a great option if you like to socialise with other like minded people. Booking 2 seats is a great way for you and your shooting buddy to experience a well priced day, and mingle with other stalkers.

Booking "EXCLUSIVE DAY" options means for that day the ground we are on is yours to hunt on exclusively - great if you're meeting up with a group of friends or family to hunt together.

A typical day involves meeting for a safety brief an hour or so before first light, then deployment to seats (our guides will drive or stalk guests into seats before first light). A minimum of 3 hours later guests will be collected and taken for a hearty breakfast whilst animals are processed, then it's back out for the afternoon/evening session. We then collect guests after last light and typically go to a local "watering hole" for a coffee and/or dinner!

If preferred, we can accommodate an evening session followed by a morning session the next day - for example Saturday evening then Sunday morning. Please contact us to arrange this if this is your preference.

Guests will have 3 hours minimum field time in a high seat (unaccompanied) per session per guest (6 hours minimum total per guest per day) - guests must have their own insurance (we are of course insured also), equipment and posses a minimum of Deer Stalking Certificate Level 1, or at least 3 years deer stalking experience. Guests may bring non-shooting spouse or other family members with them at no extra charge.

The fee you pay covers the guides time as well as up to 4 cull Chinese Water Deer (tusks not past bottom jaw). Muntjac Does may also be included on the day at the guides discretion. Shot fees on larger CWD bucks, roe does, Muntjac bucks apply as per fee page on this site. No more than 4 CWD may be culled by each guest per day.

Unaccompanied sessions are only suitable for experienced persons - please do not book if you are not confident of deer species and gender identification.

Please ensure you read our T&C's and Shot Fees pages before booking, and contact us if you have any queries.

Looks a decent offer….but your charges for a miss, a clean miss, no lost animal, well…………I would hope they would not apply to a cull day

Hi Mudman, thanks for your comment. We always try to be as transparent as possible with our fees to allow guest to make a fully informed choice before coming out with us; we appreciate our sessions & policies may not be for everyone, but thankfully the standard of our guests shooting is generally good and misses & poor shot placement are relatively rare.

Re shot fees on cull days: Yes correct - a clean miss on a cull day means no charge for the shot as there's no shot fee on does. On other outings our view is that the guide has worked hard to do their job and present a shot; if the client misses then it is not the fault of the guide. This is fairly standard practice internationally.

Re carcass charge on misses: We always charge for the carcass as this represents a significant part of our business - if we didn't charge for the carcass for each miss, over the course of the year this equates to a significant amount of money. We could just increase the fees overall to cover this, but we felt it was fairer to charge the individuals who actually miss and cost our business money.

We all miss sometimes, but in general we as stalkers we maintain a high standard of shooting. For a commercial stalking outfit like ours, we have these policies to protect our business; it is not the same as going out on a friends ground and missing, who'll probably shrug their shoulders and say "we'll get it next time". Our guides must always follow up "misses" just in case the guest is mistaken (which is common with clients who think they missed), this is time which is rarely covered by the lost carcass fee.

Without wishing to cause offence to anyone, we would prefer that anyone who feels they have a significant likelihood of missing doesn't attend our cull days. We will be offering range days in the near future with shooting instruction from qualified instructors, we'll post these on here in due course.

@Watermeadow I have to say that it is great to see a clear explanation and justifiable reasons without it developing into a slanging match. Congratulations on the clarity. Based on this attitude, I would be interested in one of the range day so please add me to your list when you have dates available. Thanks.

Bump - still dates available this season - just to clarify - £225 is all you'll pay for up to 4 x CWD cull animals over a whole days shooting; no shot fees on top (assuming you don't mess up!)

Hi,

If you want to keep a carcass to bring home, what are your current rates?

Hi Chris, all of our venison is £2.50 per kg to take home - we’re connected to a food producer who sells it for much more than that so we’re not desperate to be rid of it.

CWD is a level above muntjac in our opinion - great eating!

Hi,

Thank you for getting back to me. Fully understand you could sell it for more. CWD is an amazing meat. Your day price is very reasonable and I was just trying to figure out what a day plus bringing a deer home for the freezer would be for so I’m not wasting your time!!

Thank you. It’s £225 for the day which includes shot fees on 4 cull CWD (tusks not below bottom jaw). A carcass will be around £35-40 to take home. So £265ish total for the day.

We do have fines for shooting poorly and misidentification, but it’s rare that anyone makes a huge mistake. Please read all our T&C’s before booking - nothing hideous in there but we are rigid with our cancellation policies, animal welfare, anything to do with safety and insurance.
