Burnside foods

Anyone here use Burnside farm foods as their game dealer? I am having trouble getting in touch with them over a deer I am owed payment for. I know they are really slow but 4 months is taking the **** a bit especially when it is a single stag I want paid for!

Fell out with them after having to threaten with small claims court. And I was a patient loyal customer of years! Then told to find another dealer…They do everything to avoid paying, but will keep taking game.

You will not get a reply. They are very well known for this across the Borders.

I hope you took pictures of the carcass with tag numbers on, and weight on scales ;-)

I should somewhere. Its not the end of the world just could use the money. Shame really as I drove right past their door on the way home from the ground. Might just have to pop in and speak to them face to face at some point!

Wouldn’t bother, Susan will tell you they don’t carry cash anymore and will have to get back to you once they’ve looked into it.

Do as I did, then find another dealer.

It also takes the **** out of us stalkers meticulously prepping carcasses and when they empty the larder they pile all the carcasses up on a dirty cement floor where cars reverse into, and then move them from there, bottom ones getting covered in whatever is on the ground. Seen it a few times, and really shocked me. A friend was refused access to see the butchery prep area, even from the doorway,, which was worrying.

I already have somewhere else fortunately also on the way home but they weren't able to take it that evening this time so I went back to them, more fool me. 🙄

I have wondered about the hygiene, when I opened the chiller and saw the massive pile of carcasses on the floor one Sunday evening I did wonder. That and the baler twine hanging "hooks" they have.

Report them other wise it won't stop.

Yeh. Bad reputation all round.
They also pay **** pence compared to others and quite frankly I’d throw rabbits away before taking them to that place.

Not high on my list of places to use .

I used to use them before COVID when they changed from cash to cheque I stopped taking them there.
I shot a fallow in North Wales the afternoon before going up north. I phoned them no problem same price as any roe I take in.
Great don't need the Mrs checking the chiller while I am away.
Turned up with it .Oh it's a fallow we only give 60p lb 🤦. We prefer roe . 🤷.

It's an hour each way for me from my ground.
Roughly £10.00 and hour in the pickup without wear and tear.

I would go to the small claims court for £35. Definitely wouldn't leave them get off scott free out of principle. I would also report them to the food standards agency.

Just as follow-up gents, funnily enough and without further attempts to contact them, I suddenly got paid a few days after starting this thread, so that's a happy coincidence, isn't it!!!!
