As I’m getting older I’m finding that my double sticks aren’t as stable as they once were - or maybe it’s me?!

Anyway, before committing to buying a pair of quad sticks I was wondering if anyone had an old pair of either Seeland or Bushwear quad sticks they’ve upgraded from & would be willing to let go at a sensible price (plus postage of course or collection if local).

Before anyone says make a pair from B&Q canes, the reason I’ve never got a pair in the past is my concern about tensioning them by trying to move to a shot without having to move the leg(s). Homemade ones won’t have the flat front rest that allows a degree of traverse.

Cosmetic condition not important, just so long as they’re in working order mechanically as it’s the principle I want to try out.

Thanks in advance.

If you want to borrow a set to try then let me know, I have a set of carbon Blaser sticks and a set of carbon Viper flex quad sticks, I’m located north Hampshire if you’re this way!! It might save you spending money on something that doesn’t suit!!!

That’s a very kind offer @Bushy but one I’ll politely decline thanks as a) I’d like to try the idea out over a prolonged period of time just to make sure I’ve given it my best if I decide they’re not for me and b) I’d be paranoid about damaging them if they weren’t mine. Cheers anyway 👍

Bushwear are fine, I've had mine 4 years and shot thousands of critters using them, all I've done to them is wrap the poles in black vetwrap from eBay to make them warmer to the touch, and glued an isotope to the top yoke so that in the dark you know you have them facing the correct way when you flick them open.
You may not need to upgrade if you buy Bushwear... :tiphat:

If you do get some, I recommend trying the flat rest at the back. If you prefer it that way then on the Bushwear type, it's best to swap the tops over to keep the geometry of the front/back correct.

I now would never use the flat at the front.

Good luck.

That’s a good tip, thanks, keeps the weight transfer vertical 👍 Also matches how I use twin sticks at the moment if I need to traverse I move the rear of the rifle not the front.

Another useful tip - had never thought of using vet wrap to stop having to hold cold sticks!! It’d have to be pretty dark though to need to use glo tape to see which way round the sticks were 😳 - probably too dark to be legally shooting fallow 😉

Yeah, no need for the isotope for you then.
I use mine for stalking, foxing & ratting... the vet wrap is worthwhile, it deadens any noise as well and also gives them a very covert finish with no chance of any glint.

Thanks for all the offers & tips, I’m now sorted with a set of Bushwear sticks to ‘try before you buy’ 👍 Had them out this evening & easy enough to carry but didn’t get a chance to try them out as only fallow I saw was next to a road so no way safe to shoot 🙁
