Buying or even finding bullets

I think we'll just disagree on this one. That same argument is used here (that the military/police could take them if they really wanted to), but it doesn't happen because there would be a lot of dead military/police and it would spark an insurrection that no one would survive...kinda like Northern Ireland.
Aye. I always remember my first visit to a proper gunstore in Penn and having a great chat with the half dozen guys who were fascinated by my “english (NI) accent”. All of them were “packing” and to a man said “we have the guns and nobody, but nobody, is taking them off us”. I later had the pleasure of joining a monthly “road trip” with 12 guys in a convoy of 3 trucks trekking round the many gunstores looking for items of interest. All 12 of them were “packing” and the 13th who joined us at lunchtime surprise, surprise, made it the baker’s dozen. As I said to my host - “I have nothing to worry about - Obama doesn’t have this protection - I am blessed”! Bless the US of A!

Serious question - given that NI is still part of the UK, why are the good folk who live there allowed to possess handguns (in some cases for personal defence as well I think?)?
Handguns only issued for range use, a very limited number of handguns issued for personal protection these days

If anyone needs some .224 Sierra 55gr Blitzkings I have two boxes spare as I have enough to last a life time!

Northern Ireland has different legislation for Firearms to the rest of the UK.

Handguns were removed as knee jerk reaction to the Police not following proper procedures and allowing individuals to keep and use firearms despite repeated warnings and clear evidence that were totally unfit to have anything to do with Firearms.

Rather than addressing the true problem, much better to look at the headlines and how we can make the country much much safer.

Of course government has learnt by its mistakes and will never do such things again.

ooohh, do tell….. Was he not being PC or was he?

A (sadly) popular you tube channel with a UK country in its name, still active, does not have his FAC anymore. Allegedly as a result being a bit too vocal about the fact he thinks firearms should be permissible for self defence including during a TV interview and the police deciding it was concerning.

Openly saying on the airgunBbs forum that he had left his (non FAC holding)friend on a firing point at Bisley in possession of his rifle abs ammunition whilst he went to the range office probably didn’t help either.

Hmmm. Now this is intriguing…..

NI., based on a lifetime of watching the news from that area, a handgun should be mandatory for all law abiding citizens. Sorry, the ammo crunch has landed on your shores. What little supplies I am able buy have become very expensive. I am paying about 4 times the usual price for primers when they are available. Anything I buy is over the net and for powder and primers there is an added charge of $19.95 for hazardous material shipping. Inflated product prices, shipping, hazardous material fee, it adds up quick. I am only buying shooting supplies now as a luxury item, meaning my shooting has been cut by about 90%. No more taking the kids shooting every weekend and god forbid they want to bring a friend when we do go.

You poor boy! Sadly what you have seen on TV is not at all a fair picture of NI. I worked in city centre Belfast all through ”The Troubles” and apart from the odd bit of real excitement I felt far more comfortable than on my many trips to the Big Apple. The morale is “don’t believe what you see on tv”! Mrs FB is a londoner and we went from no-one coming to visit for many years through to being inundated with them. My airport farewell always comprised of a firm handshake and asking them not to tell anyone how good life really was over here!
Sorry to hear of how you guys are falling off a cliff - if you want a good day at the range just come on over……. The craic is mighty!! Who would have thought it??

Similarly, Israel is the same. Everyone thinks it's a warzone, but in reality it's mostly pretty normal there...most of the time.

Funny ol world. All through the Troubles I thought Israel really was a war-zone! I should have known far, far better.

Yeah, I was first there during all the bombings and such during the late 80's (the first time). We had to travel in civilian clothes (no uniforms, etc.), and were told to be watchful of becoming a target. But in reality, it was pretty normal there. A great place to visit if you've never been. Friendly people, good food, lots of history.

I won't send anything shooting related to N.I either after a parcel I sent containing unfired brass and projectiles was lifted.

Triple loss, lose the goods, refund the payment and postage+packadging fee gone too.

No thanks!
How'd you know this was lifted and not just lost? If lifted by postal service you could have got em back surely on negotiation? Any parcel can go missing up to the sender to have insurance to cover for this and easy enough to receive compensation as I have done on several occasions. It's not rocket science..

Absolutely spot on GHF thank you. Far too often some people, for their own reasons, put their own often poisonous spin on simple things such as Royal Snail losing a parcel - so it simply must/can only be because it was sent to Northern Ireland. How many similar parcels go astray en route to Glasgow, Cardiff, London etc. etc. without the same connotation or rancour? As you rightly say the sender should be doing the job right in the first place and at a small additional cost, not even to them but to the buyer, rather than complaining and damning because of their own shortcomings.
Nuff said.

I think in some parts of the world, where rabid nationalists abound, there is a dislike of any culture, nationality or political persuasion that doesnt align, and thus grows into prejudice which finds other outlets. Quite sad really.

I for one am open to dealing with all nationalities, background and race, except the French.

Yep, can’t fault you there sir.

Anyhow our psni firearms branch have had the foresight to give their CF certificate holders permission to hold a sensible amount of ammo. I've still 300+ rounds from the 25 boxes I bought at under £20/box of federal powershock I bought a dozen years ago
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it..
