Steel Shot and Monolithic Bullets.

A couple of views from across the water on both Steel Shot and Monolithic Bullets. In parts of the US they have been using lead free ammo for decades.

On Steel Shot

And Monolithics vs Ballistic Gel at both high and low (1900 fps) velocities. Admittedly we only see the TTSX and the Hornady CMX in the UK. But they all leave a good sized permanent and temporary wound channel even at low velocities.

However I do appreciate that many will take the view that these are only 308 bullets and that the US water used to make Ballistics Gel is very different to that in the UK. And the physiology of north American Mallards, Widgeon, Teal and Phaesants is totally different as well. Of course North America is on the edge of earth as the world is flat. So the information has no relevance whatsoever to UK shooters (just giving a balanced view :))

however you do have to be careful comparing US steel shot cartrudges with U.K. as they are not bound by CIP maximum momentum hence they can use heavier loads and or higher velocities than we can.
They tend also to use semi auto 3.5 inch chamber firearms.

Somehow I have difficulty relating American 3 1/2" Magnum loads to lowland driven partridge and pheasant shooting through a light weight 20 bore SBS. Also did I miss the bit on micro plastic pollution in the write up?

They are absolutely limited by pressures compared to CIP high performance steel shot in 2 3/4"

You're listening to those who high five after shots and have to stick 5 bullets in a deer to kill it.

Anything you say is pretty irrelevant at this point 😂 it's VERY well documented copper fails to perform at range. Even the likes of Barnes... in fact, dodgyknees did a really good experiment a few years ago using them if you want to have a search back. That also marries up with my experience.

And then on to shotguns. Steel is bloody useless, I've literally seen them bounce off crows 😂 either that or fly over the horizon and then drop out the sky. Nothing humane about it whatsoever

PS - nothing comes from a vortex podcast/video that gives a balanced view.
