C50 Pulsar Digex NV unit

The only disagreement I'd have is, and we've all had this- spot it with thermal, turn on nv get behind rifle... "where the f**k did it go" see it in thermal, searching about for it with nv. Not every time but it does happen.
Quick target acquisition is one of the major advantages of thermal. It's why I like the C50 it has a very wide field of view on 3.5x so much better than my wraith

That’s where the 3.5base mag of the C50 is an advantage, x7 pip box for the shot.

Thats exactly what's putting me off too mate. Just taken one digital scope off my set up as too heavy. Will need to hold one before I commit to buying.
I just weighed the whole rifle (rifle tikka T1X, mod, C50) and it’s only 300 grams lighter than a 30-06 with a 56obj scope, moderator and 24” barrel…

That’s true, although having a similar magnification helps as the picture should be similar. And the C50’s wide angle of view helps compared to my last pard.

I am not surprised, at £3k you would expect it to be exceptional.

What’s it like assessing the foreground and backstop?
Good enough for me, no worries about using it and those that know me on here and the NV forum will tell you I have always been a thermal skeptic.

Thermal or NV they are just tools in a box, both do the same job, I have got by using my Drones to very good effect and my first dabble into thermal scope world with a WT1 75 3 was disappointing to say the least, so we must see different tings when looking through them, no matter what colour it was on or where the contrast and brightness was I could never see any background detail with any sense, so went back to my Drones but now I have the Senopex it's almost like looking at a detailed b& w photo much better than the WT1 75 3 but that's progress for you. but whatever you have just enjoy it.

Thermal scopes are a huge advantage...finding and getting on target quickly, fast tracked follow up shots if needed... shooting in thick cover, scrub, woodland, hedges with zero IR bounce back or false exposure...

I shoot a lot of rabbits, in scrub and cover especially this time of year they are very difficult to see, thermal scopes change that completely, and allow an uncluttered setup depending on model with no need for mounted torches, etc.... they are absolute dynamite for out and out pest control..

I've been running a Thermion 2 XP50, Thermion 2 XP50 Pro, Hik Stellar SQ50 and our Senopex models. Like said with the right scope you can positively ID animals a long long way...

I’m using the trail 2 on the 222
t ceptor on the 204
my spotter is accolade 2

the air rifle & 22 rimmy. Pard 007
17 Mach 2 470s
22 hornet pulsar 940 and 344

all work perfectly in reasonable weather conditions
with the recent high moisture at night and daytime sun, mist and fog are digital NV killers without a doubt, accolades work perfectly throughout but as with thermal the big hit is the cost, trail and t ceptor are phenomenal and are game changers

digital NV are also brilliant and well worth the money without a shadow of doubt, the big turning point for me is that I have to work to dates and the weather is something you work around to get the results

if you are fortunate enough to be able to venture out in good conditions your on a winner and normal NV will be your forever champion, thermal will however give you the edge with no whiteout ( that’s not to say you should discharge a firearm somewhere you can’t safely shoot ) but thermal is for the more difficult weather conditions and with a thermal spotter your sorted

not so many years ago I had the old type photon on a tilt and pan with a small tv in the cab when I could use a vehicle if not I’d have the photon hanging around my neck just spotting with it with the same nv scope on a 22 hornet, they worked very very well, but not in mist or rain, still got the job done over a longer period

Real time NV is a cracking set up, but with limitations - thermal is the DB’s if you can swallow the cost, I grew up with the good old photon but gradually moved to partial thermal as they become affordable and available

if your out once a month - stick with some of the good NV scopes on the market and a Pard 007 as a spotter, and work the weather and enjoy what you’ve settled on, get 8n to it and save your pennies up for when your ready for a change
