I’m using the trail 2 on the 222
t ceptor on the 204
my spotter is accolade 2
the air rifle & 22 rimmy. Pard 007
17 Mach 2 470s
22 hornet pulsar 940 and 344
all work perfectly in reasonable weather conditions
with the recent high moisture at night and daytime sun, mist and fog are digital NV killers without a doubt, accolades work perfectly throughout but as with thermal the big hit is the cost, trail and t ceptor are phenomenal and are game changers
digital NV are also brilliant and well worth the money without a shadow of doubt, the big turning point for me is that I have to work to dates and the weather is something you work around to get the results
if you are fortunate enough to be able to venture out in good conditions your on a winner and normal NV will be your forever champion, thermal will however give you the edge with no whiteout ( that’s not to say you should discharge a firearm somewhere you can’t safely shoot ) but thermal is for the more difficult weather conditions and with a thermal spotter your sorted
not so many years ago I had the old type photon on a tilt and pan with a small tv in the cab when I could use a vehicle if not I’d have the photon hanging around my neck just spotting with it with the same nv scope on a 22 hornet, they worked very very well, but not in mist or rain, still got the job done over a longer period
Real time NV is a cracking set up, but with limitations - thermal is the DB’s if you can swallow the cost, I grew up with the good old photon but gradually moved to partial thermal as they become affordable and available
if your out once a month - stick with some of the good NV scopes on the market and a Pard 007 as a spotter, and work the weather and enjoy what you’ve settled on, get 8n to it and save your pennies up for when your ready for a change
