Can anyone help with hard anodising?

I've got 2x newly machined aluminium picatinny rails for my rifles.

I've had some expensive quotes to have them hard anodised and dyed.

Can anyone recommend me somewhere that can anodise them cheaply? Failing this I will likely paint the rails.

Thanks, but it's no cheaper than anodising, and I've got the kit to spraypaint as good as cerakote.

Just scrubbed the grey matter and the guidance from JR Firearms is as follows:

“We use a place local but all anodisers will do stuff as a minimum order so not cost effective unless you wait and get it done in a batch.”

Thank you, yes it's the minimum batch cost that is the problem.

Home anodizing is possible, assuming you can get the RIT dye in the UK. There's a bunch of youtube videos on it. It's not going to be Class III anodizing, but it'll be better than Alumahyde or other similar products.

The problem/issue with getting someone like Wildcat Moderators to add your component to a batch of their colour-coded components is you’d have to settle on the colour they have specified. Not a problem if it’s a batch of 6mm baffles and you want a green bolt knob!

Thanks everyone. Most of the anodisers I've contacted haven't bothered replying - it's a pity I can't find anyone sympathetic to a hobbyist that would take £50 for a homer. The only one I have had a positive reply from happens to be my local one and they want £80 + an environmental surcharge £12 + VAT (I assume).

@MarinePMI thanks for the tip, but home anodising doesn't take my interest and I suspect I'll invest in kit I'll never use much.

It appears that the best option for me is going to be grit blasting and spray coating with kit I already have. A bit time intensive, but I've learnt that if you want something nice that doesn't cost the earth you often have to learn to do it yourself . Now to choose a colour....which RAL code
