Can you shoot 55gn vmax in 222?

Yeas you can.

The 45 S&B need a bit more umph going off how they felt to shoot but not to bad off the cuff.

My Sako 75 loves the V-Max in my home loads. Most accurate are the 40 grain, then next is the 50 grain (which I use all the time ). I can just get a one inch group with the 55 grain, but for me the 50 grain are the sweet spot.

Flat base 55gr no problem
I ran 60gr Hornady SP in my .222s (BRNO, Tikka and Sako)

you will find there is a sweet spot for any long/Heavy for calibre bullets

I had a bit of a play with some 60gr hornady soft points in the .222 the other day
Its a factory barrel, chopped to around 20-21", 1:14 twist and "shouldn't" stabilise 60's

I had good success with 100gr in a 1:10 .243 barrelled Parker Hale which equally shouldnt have worked so nothing ventured nothing gained.
I chucked some 60gr .222 cartridges together in the lee loader and a rough scoop of around 21gr a while ago and shot a circa 3/4-1" five shot group so wanted to see what they would do if I pushed them and tried to measure charges
interestingly they group 1+" higher than faster...

From memory it was 19.5gns of Viht N120 - same load as 55gns Sierras shot 1/2 inch groups and heap big medicine for Roe.
