Capreolus club

. The club holds no responsibility for the safe shooting of its members, any shots made should be done
so only when a safe suitable back stop is available

Any of you guys in it or been in it

I was a member. Here are the pros and cons as I saw it:

Pros
Friendly and knowledgeable
Aimed at upmarket (talks on rifles at Holland and Holland; Whisky tasting; cigar evenings; Dangerous Game talk; range days at London Shooting School and in W. Sussex; annual Christmas do at a Pall Mall club)
Surprisingly, in mind of the above, not snobby though
A wide range of hunting events put on (UK, Nordics, Africa)
You can pay to have use of grounds yourself (great if you haven't a permission of your own)
Can help you get an FAC

Cons
Pricey for what it is
Pay a quarterly fee and for the events themselves. (When it started the Christmas do was "free" and so were a couple of club days. When everything started to be charged for, and I got my own Permissions, I canceled.)

I think that for someone relatively new to stalking and need guidance from a friendly group where cost is not too much of an issue, it may be worth considering.

Won't be joining, but without going into too much detail, what are the fees like?

Tbh I've just joined for the stalking with working in London I can just go of an evening or Saturday morning ect Puffing on cigars and mayfair clubs aren't my bag tbh.i dont need the land for the ticket as I have open ticket already just plenty of free time through the week

As above, correct. The St Huberts club is nothing to do with it. I have had a couple of EX Capreolus members stalking with me over the past couple of years.

I'm interested to better understand if this cigar-smoking, port-swilling and Bentley-owning deerstalker's club has a programme of continual personal development (CPD) leading towards that all-important DSCL2 badge and beyond?

If so where does such training,
both in-the-field and at the larder, take place and what are the likely costs for a would-be new member given of but a single stick and LARGE knife?

I can do a deal on Mayfair off-street parking for the right reply!

Nice website! Joking apart it looks as if it fills a niche. No harm no foul as I see it. As I have said before on this topic , there is/was nothing to stop any naysayers doing similar should they have, A Thought of it and B Wanted to. Ade

Been this evening and looked at two bits of ground deer on both cracking high seats positioned well and the two bits of ground are certainly nice the drive to from Richmond and back to Elstree uncovered even more deer in the area seen some cracking groups of fallow

Interesting as Cernunnos was the name of the most important celtic/ancient British gods and was replicated by a man wearing the boiled skull of a red deer with holes enlarged for the eyes of the man. Anyone advise how that club got its name ?

Wow! For £425 (PLUS VAT)....yes I jest not it's £425 plus VAT I can obtain a PDS Certificate Level 1. For as the website states (I quote) "Obtaining the PDS1 Certificate is also recognised as a crucial first step in obtaining a Firearm Certificate, or variation to an existing certificate to shoot deer." *

And after that a PDS Certificate Level 2 at £1,975 (PLUS VAT). Oh and there's a Land Assessment Course and a Woodland Stalker Course also.

* PDS1 - PROFICIENT DEER STALKER
