Carbon wrap barrels

Dont get it personally

The carbon barrels are not lighter than a fluted sporter, they are heavier
They are not conducive to long shot strings
The insulation of the CF makes the skinny tube very hot

Had several through the shop under "nut tension" where the nut has come loose, that has got to be a potential accuracy issue waiting to happen.

Am building a 28Nosler on a Proof Research barrel for no other reason than it was "Man Maths" cheap (It ****ing wasn't after I had acquired the worlds supply of Peterson Brass!)
But that will be "One shot and done" type rifle!

My 6.5CM 18” proof barrel is very fast and matches the velocity of other 24” factory barrels.

It’s a hammer. Very tolerant across a range of ammunition and loads and a doddle to clean.

Eye watering prices aside it’s my favourite barrel

It’s new, it markets well with moves into ‘carbon technology’, match with ‘modern’ chamberings, and there’s a new sales avenue.

My own stalking rifle has a proof sendero in 6.5cm and sits in the PSE evolution. Its raggy hole accurate with the same loads as were also used in the previous barrel, a bartlein ss varmint used for PRS and hunting. Its a joy to carry, but recoil is more than when it was heavier. But then it was in a PSE E-tac and used a PES MAE moderator, so more weight and a bigger stock. Ive never shot strings with the CF barrel but have no problems hitting “kill zones” at ranges some might say is too far. Its very consistent too, cold bore or follow up. Clean or dirty.
