Just saw this head line but you have to pay to read, wondered if any one was already subscribed to the group of papers hereford times and evesham journal.
Wondered about the facts
If any one can copy and paste that would be great

before the specific pages web address type smry.ai/ and go to the amended web address

That’ll get you around all of the more basic paywalls (typical of local rags)

I do struggle with the fact that the person couldnt tell the difference but there is a lot of difference in image quality. I see plenty of cats when Im out with the thermal after foxes and they look and behave much differently..if in doubt dont bloody shoot it....

I'm also concerned that he supposedly missed. Is it normal to shoot at an animal whilst it is fighting with another? Would personally prefer a stationary target from a safety perspective...

Nothing in that article makes sense
His story is bull
How could he shoot at the larger target and miss and hit the smaller one?

What was the other larger target (an actual fox maybe - that would seem to be good mitigation)

Once shot he said he thought it was a stray and put it in a bush (having removed its collar of course

The pet owners story is also bull
They found a patch of blood and fur. Seems unlikely assuming it was the next day and they didn't know where to start looking

They found the collar with a bullet in it - of course they did

They easily found the corpse

Unless this is a well trodden narrow path none of this is likely and he shouldn't have a gun if he is making shots like that on such tight ground

Personally I would never shoot a fox if it was having a fight with another fox as there is a risk of injuring one or both. The same applies if one fox is behind another ...much the same as any other shot with a rifle.

Realistically, he probably was bored of not having any foxes called in that night, saw a cat and thought ‘yeah, he’ll f’ing get it’

I'm trying to remember but I think dog and cat are treated differently in law as to if they are property of their owner

I think so long as there was no cruelty or danger it is not a crime to shoot a cat whereas it would be to shoot a dog without good cause
