After many home made cattys, Hazel fork and push bike inner tubes, getting a black widow was a revelation in my very much younger days. Can you still buy them?

Only yesterday on BBC Teletext a report of police called to the use of hunting with dogs and two blokes were arrested one with a catapult. Mention of Deer as well. In SUFFOLK/NORFOLK.
My great grandfather fed his family with a hazel catapult. They had no money at all and when visiting him he used to tell stories of his poaching and replaced himself with the character bob fox. I have his last hazel wood catapult.
Milbro metal ones i had in the 1970's with square rubber. As a lad i used glass marbles, smooth pebbles etc.
A few years back i bought a couple of the plastic uniphox type to rekindle my interest. Not expensive and imho good enough to get on with.
Watched the usual youtube videos. Good fun.
Absolute rubbish about hunting with catapult. Like everything, practice and consistency pays off.
If you are doing pest control, then don’t bother but a walk with the dog and nothing wrong with filling your pot, with permission obviously. Unfortunately there are a lot of ‘wrong uns’ .
For clarity, I don’t hunt with a catapult because I’m useless so far and respect my quarry. And to be fair , they would be perfectly safe
