fed up with cans ,so thinking getting cens proflex dx5 for game shooting ,clays ,range work ,and general stalking with the rifle ,all the reviews seem good apart from price .interested to hear any ones thoughts on said ear protection ,and if there is any other manufactures worth considering ,had my ear impressions done ,so ready to pull the hammer .

One thing worth considering, and it all comes down to your priorities, is that the moulded in ear protection can never offer the same level of attenuation that you will get using expanding foam. It may be that this isn't an issue for you but if you want to maximise your protection then it is worth taking a look at the various systems that use expanding foam ear tips.

These are very popular and I use an older version (the LEP-100) of them, you can fit expanding foam ear tips of various types to them:

One thing I will say is that ears are all different sizes and so the standard ear tips that ship with any of these things are not very likely to be the perfect fit for you so my advice would be to be willing to experiment.

If you don't need active hearing protection then these people do trial packs of foam earplugs, it is a while since I ordered from them and their range seems to have changed a lot since then but in the past they certainly shipped to the UK at very reasonable prices:

Like you I struggled with cans, and especially at Bisley, knocking or adjusting over ears and a shot being taken on adjoining lane made the final decision for in-ears.

I swallowed hard and went for the DX-5s, with a 5 year warranty package. Included is the fact you can send them in for a service each year, FoC. I rationed it out as about the price of a take-away coffee a week over the 5 years, as long as I don't lose them. I decided to do what I can to protect my hearing, as most damage seems to be irreversible.

I like the fact I have different modes, so whether full bore outside at Bisley, small bore indoors with club, pigeon shooting or clays, they do they trick. Comfortable enough to wear for hours at a stretch. Can always put my active Swatcom cans over the top if I want, yet still have protection if I knocked one off the ear.

Looks like CENS have a really good offer if you are going to the BSS. Not sure if that is just sent to subscribers, so DM me if you want that email forwarded to you.
