Certificate Fees hike from April

Perhaps increase would have been a better word to use rather than hike. Hike gives the impression of a massive increase when I was just trying to draw attention to the anouncement and not make a statement.

I'd say three miles plus is a hike. Anything less is a stroll. :)

Here's the prices so you can see how much they have gone up:

Firearm certificateGrant / renewal
Shotgun certificateGrant / renewal
Registered Firearms DealerGrant / renewal
British Visitors PermitIndividual / group
Coterminous certificatesGrant / renewal
Game fairs (RFD extension)Grant
Replacement certificate

I've added the existing costs in the right hand column, just for comparison.

True, although there won't be much choice. Pay up or you don't get one. To be honest, they haven't gone up for 13 years, so can't complain about those price increases really.
True! I was talking to my Firearms Office the other day about a variation I was applying for (A straight 1 for 1) and they did tell me about the price increases, but to be fair they did say that the price for a variation to add any further firearms to your certificate was going down, so "swings and roundabouts"!
As for hoping that this price increase might help to make the process quicker in some areas that has yet to be seen (And I very much doubt if this will change in some areas), but to be honest I have no complaint about Lancashire Firearms Office as they have always been very quick on their turnround time (in my experience) and I certainly have no complaints about them.
Fortunately I got my co-terminous renewed late last year!

I am unhappy that an increase comes with no improvement in performance and no prospect of that happening. I also would like a review carried out as the variation between forces on FAC renewals etc where this is extreme, without HO justification. Durham are a case in point, if they were a school they would be in 'special measures' why is no-one pushing this issue ?
CA/BASC/NGO/SACS seem happy to see us run ragged and act only when complaints are received from members - the better defence of shooters is to tackle ANY police authority which strays too far from the rules (HO Guidance). Like many others though I wont be holding .....

Agreed Kes, before they raise the prices they should be made to (a) act reasonably and consistently countrywide, and (b) decrease the arbitrary application of conditions which are not evidenced to improve public safety (we have to evidence our good reason and that we are fit to own firearms, they need to evidence that conditions are applied only where necessary to improve public safety.
