Now it's been awhile since the last H4H charity shoot. so I'm thinking it's about time for another maybe ? But a different charity what are members thoughts ? Any interest.??

There may be a few obstacles to overcome with the range request ? So we can buy try .

Air ambulance ?
British heart foundation
Alzheimer's
Local hospice any !
Gamekeepers trust
Farmers mental health
The list is only suggested any others ??

Great idea….maybe Cancer Research or similar…as we know, affects so many in life irrespective of class or status.
As per H4H I’ll kick it off with the following prizes.

1) A day driven pheasant.
2) A day chalk stream fly fishing.

BSRC is a first class event and its not about how good you are or not ! the banter is what the day is about and helping others less off than us.
Any chance of the bring and swap table again Feller with fee going into the pot ?

Cancer research strikes a chord with me.

I'm sure myself and Bandit Country would make the trip down from Herefordshire.
Could also sort something for a prize like we've done before.....
👍👍

I think such things are a good idea except I never give money to heart charities, cancer charities, Great Ormond Street, Captain Sir Tom Moore and such like. Every time I get confronted by "chuggers" for such...usually young kids...I say this "Do you think that in supposedly the sixth richest country in the world, UK, by GDP that the British Health Service should be funded by charity collections? Because I don't. If you really care about this you should actually be approaching me and asking me to write to my MP and demand it be properly funded by the state and not by charity."

There's only two charities I give to. St. Dunstan's now Blind Veterans UK who helped by war blinded late grandfather after WWI and set him up with a smallholding in Yorkshire and the Royal British Legion who so shamed Thatcher (a so called patriot) that she had to reinstate the War Widow's pension that my late mother received then had taken away. It could be said that neither of these causes should be funded by charity either but I am very dubious about Help for Heroes and wouldn't give that organisation a penny piece.

St Dunstan's now Blind Veterans UK still has a lot going on salaries but at least it's still lower even though it's on a income TWICE that of H4H.

The RBL also sees a lot spent on staff salaries. But H4H does seem too much "Didn't they do well" when it comes to its top earners.

It’s easy to be critical of any number of mainstream Charities in the context of their sometimes rather vague declaration of “administrative costs” so my suggestion is to opt for a lesser known local organisation that, critically, tick certain boxes for those running the shoot.

I was approached a number of years ago to take a senior role at a large charity, the board renumeration structure was why I turned it down, payments were egregious. I now only support local volunteer charities and would never pay chuggers, often the charity only receives the gift aid.

A ( DIFFERENT CHARITY THIS TIME ) If you don't want to give to any of them Don't !!

Jezzz Some on here need to move on

Its a Great get together for any on the SD that want to be sociable and raise some ££ for some good deserving cause
that why I asked for suggestions !!

Air ambulance. Very sad it is publicly funded and should be part of the emergency services. If the police can have helicopters so should the ambulance service.

The management roles of all these cooperations, sorry “charities” are gross considering the ethos of charity but without the business acumen that comes as a price they would go elsewhere and I’m sure the charity would crumble. It is what it is.

Nothing in that to suggest other than crack-on with choosing your Charity and tell us how to sign up.

Morning
I have been reading about Forres shooting club - on the pigeon watch - and whilst i have no connection with them i wonder if they are a worthy cause for donation
Their story is on that web site and they are looking to rebuild a club house destroyed by the weather. I wonder if this grass roots is the sort of thing we should really be supporting

@Conor O'Gorman

We up here in the northeast of England have shot lampton park charity shoot for at least 15 years
First when the NGO used to run it
Then as lampton estate
Last year they announced a change to the days
Used to be Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday
This year Thursdays/friday /saturday
The change came about due to the houses been built on the estate 🤷‍♂️ . The charity’s will lose out as people who work will now have to put holidays in
3 days in a year great event lots of money maid for charity air ambulance Percy hardly to name but two
We think it will fould or the revenue for the charity’s greatly reduced

Another charity that I have been assisting is "Waterloo Uncovered". They have run a series of fund raising events at bisley.
The money goes towards providing travel/food/accommodation for ex service folk who wish to partake in archaeological work at the Waterloo battlefield area.
I am also quite leary of some major charities H4H being one.

Mountain rescue are run as a charity with virtually no one on the payroll. Perhaps give the money to MREW, to distribute to the local teams as they see fit.

Let's face it, if we come a cropper, it's likely MR that will be involved.
