Children and the Covid vaccination

The risks appear to be low either way. The experts say the benefits of vaccination are marginal.
We're a very pro-vaccine family generally, but in the case of covid vaccine for teenagers, I'd tend towards avoiding it.
The reasoning being that a healthy boy stands more chance against a nasty bout of covid than the rare possibility of serious heart problems.

If there's a big inconvenience owing to Sturgeons stupid covid passports, then....I don't know

I do think this is an extreme as they mention in the letter it’s more about preventing transmission than about stopping you getting covid.

I think we are fairly decided our son will get the vaccine though.

We all had Covid early in the summer. My wife & I felt like we had a summer cold and were tired for a week (both of us were double vaccinated at this point).

I have never see our slim and fit 16 y.o. twins as unwell as when they had it and it must have taken them 20 days to get over the worst of the effects. To one of them almost all food still tastes revolting and the other has lost his appetite and they are becoming dangerously thin.

My advice would be to get your child vaccinated post haste; you simply don’t know how they will react to catching Covid.

I guess the other concern is why not 11 year olds? Why is 12 the cut off as my son is just 12…and the fact it says it’s more about transmission concerns me.

They have to pick an age as they go through the population, soon people will be asking why it’s age 4 and not 3, I think they will draw a line on new born

The reason I asked is that’s about puberty age so wondered if it was relating to hormones.

The fertility scare came from claims that as the vaccien creates antibodies to the spike protein and as there is a similarity between the spike protein and syncitium-2 (a protein that allows placental cells to stick together) there might be a risk that the antibodies will lead to infertility

It's false and poor thinking. The similarity is only in the constituent amino acid as the proteins are toally different. It's like a lego kit that can make a fire-engine or a house from the same bricks

Hmmm. Isreal has stopped vaccinating young males due to increased risk of heart damage. Young people are very low risk. Check out the difference between vaccinated people catching and transmitting Covid against non vacined it I think 17 percent. If you get Covid then your risk of getting it again are greatly reduced than if you relied upon a vaccine.

As with the annual flue vaccination for the older people, it is suggested that a top up /booster of the vaccine for COVID to become a "thing"
If it does become an annual booster vaccination for everyone, would this be a case for the 12+ kids too?
